I bought this 2024 civic as my commuter car since my truck isnt going to cut it lol. I bought it brand new and ever since day one, Ive tried all kinda of stuff, and I still get spots on it. I dont know what it is... Ive prep'd it properly, but I still get spots and what looks to be etching in the clear already. I have taken the buffer to the paint several times to get these out using Poorboys Professional Polish that has no abrasives in it. I can honestly tell you that every time I wash it, which is around 2-3 weeks, it AT LEAST gets some spray sealant wiped on to it. So I know there is always something on the paint. Im wondering if going back to Collinite 845 or something would be a better bet? I dont know whats going on, honestly... Any thoughts/inputs?

I plan on doing a decontamination/buffing it out this fall and doing something that I hope actually will last...

Water spots? Try any water spot remover?

I recently found out polishing doesn't fix etched water spots and you need a remover before polishing. I was bummed thinking it was clear coat damage but once I implemented a dedicated water spot remover before polishing again, all was well.

That's all I got if not the answer!

Also it looks like bugs are etching possibly. I have SPotless from Carpro but I guess the main part/point of this thread is that I cannot get any protection to stick per-se to the paint it seems... Even pollen thats on the paint, and then say we get a LIGHT rain, those dots will leave marks on the paint... its crazy. No other vehicle I have messed with has done this before.

Forget about spot removers and do a light polish, move up if necessary. Use a LSP of your choice.

Bug etching is very possible. I've some some insects guts eat right through some of the toughest sealants and into the paint if left for a couple days, like on a road trip. It's one of many reasons I use coatings now.

As for the water spots, when do they appear? Did you go straight to polishing them, vs a QD spray or maybe washing the car first? The only time I've ever had water spots that wouldn't just wash off was after a vehicle was sprayed by sprinklers and the water dried on the surface. Rain/dew/snow has never left any spots for me I couldn't just wash off.

They're the kind that are almost invisible, but but up at the right angle is that makes sense. They're jagged in nature.
