20mm DA Polisher + 5.5" pad (7/8" LC orange) + Speed 6, Excess Force = Helicopter/Grenade.

Does this sound about right/bad/problematic. Or are others getting away with speed 6 on a thin orange pad on a 20/21mm long throw? Or is speed 6 pushing it on long throw with a 5" backing plate.

Just doing a 1 step but was overworking some minor scratches that caught my eye (griots correcting cream). Probably too much speed and too much force (paint was warming a bit).

Luckily I was lifting when started to helicopter/hop and pad grenaded (no damage).

Have since backed down to speed #5 and not as much force, no more problem.

Lesson learned and next time will use griots fast correcting cream first where needed instead of trying to overwork a product into what its not meant for.

On a long throw polisher make sure to use a pad with a center hole. It helps reduce heat. I've collapsed the center of a pad without a hole.
