This is an interesting tool I'm seeing often at stores here, would like to have some opinions, what do you think about it?

It offers 21mm orbit (2000-5800 OPM), 600W, 110V.

Cost: ~$450.

Don't be fooled by the price, a Rupes 21 here goes for 'ONLY' ~$1000, so those are considered 'cheap alternatives'.

Comments?

Are you seeing similar in USA / Europe / World?

Meguiar's seems to be 'releasing' a DA at SEMA, are you all ready for the invasion?

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards.

Haven't seen this unit before. I've been waiting for one of the MaxShine (I believe they make the Griots 6") units to become available here in the US but haven't seen them yet. They have both 15mm and 21mm throw units with 880W motors and it looks like they use standard backing plates.

Yeah.... that puppy has been in threads for a year now. It's been here, (and on all the Palm Beach forums), on MOL, on Detailing Bliss, Detailing World.... you name it.

Do a search Google for "Chinese Flex 3401 clone" or even under the name(s) of Maxshine or ANSI and you'll find them. I had a PM where a guy paid just under $150 US (with shipping) to California. :dblthumb2: (I think the You Tube video says $150 as well.)

I know I'd like to have one, or a 3401 for that matter. Was going to buy a 3401 earlier this year but a guy here stiffed me on $200 worth of wholesale towels, putting that off till whenever. (CarMomma says I don't need another buffer anyhow, but BOY do I want a Flex!)

How's that for thread drift?

The rupes 21 is sold in europe for $275, roughly, USD. Take things in perspective. These "knock-offs" may not be such a bad idea. We need some long term testing to solve this. If enough forum members would pitch-in 5 or 10 dollars to give to a forum member to buy one, that forum member, who we would nominate, would agree to testing and a review. Was that a run-on senetence?

And along that line of thinking....

What about a "time share"? :D

OTOH; I'd be more than happy to try out a "clone". :props:

So, Cardaddy, looks like we have a volunteer.
expdetailing donates $20 to the rupes 21 knock-off fund, only $250 remains...
Anyone else want in?

Not at that price. Last year when the initial orders were less than $100-150 I'd be in. At $270 might as well just pick up a used Rupes for that price. Depending on what polishers get announced this year I'm sure the used boards will be flooded on those upgrading.

Thank you so much for comments. It's great to listen some of your thoughts since in near future I suspect we'll be surrounded by those knock-offs.

In fact, seems this 'Rupes Nose/Front' is very popular in China, no?

If they ever come with a Mini knock-off, I'll get one locally. The big one, vs my actual Rupes 21, no, thank you!

Kind Regards.

Dear Friends

Maybe Chemical Guys's new TORQ polisher is the Chupes.

Whew... tons of Rupes clones coming out.

On the various high-end knife forums, they call it a "pass-around."

An owner agrees to pass one of his better knives around for testing by other pedigreed members. Usually a pass-around manager is chosen to organize and establish ground rules, which usually require list members to to have passed certain milestones, agree to keep the knife for no more than a certain amount of time with the appropriate amount of care, and the manager proposes the route the knife will take.

Most of these knives are worth several times what a Flex or Bigfoot costs (many are listed on homeowners' insurance riders).
