24 Ford ranger raptor test drive.

The only mid-size I have not driven yet. Saturday morning ventured out to a Ford dealer about 45 min away. No raptors here locally. Pics do not do this truck justice till you see it! A beast. The 405 HP. was great. Interior was fantastic. Ride was also impressive. A well thought out truck no doubt. I have to say I think it edges out the new Colorado ZR2.

Ranger Raptor is a huge seller in Australia. The previous model came with a 2.0 Bi-Turbo diesel with only 210 hp, I drove one and found it to be a fantastic package. The engine might have been fine in lesser models, it really let the side down and the 10-speed was busy trying to keep the engine in its very narrow power band.







Thankfully, the latest model comes with a real engine. I have to say, I often hear these pulling onto the highway at work, I don't have to see the vehicle to know it's a Raptor, that droning exhaust note is very distinctive. Not a fan, but at least it actually has an exhaust note compared to the previous Bi-Turbo diesel.

I certainly, drove the ZR2 and Raptor back to back and the Raptor excels just about everywhere. I did like that the ZR2 offers a little nicer screen and gauge cluster customization. The performance of the Raptor is just a different animal and the sound it makes.....

Yea. Impressed so much I have my local Ford dealer looking for one. If I can put the right deal together, I will not hesitate to pull the trigger. Damn things are hard to find! Figures.
