Hey guys. So for being mobile I'm in between buying 1 100 ft hose vs 2 50 ft hoses with a good connector. That way if I k ly need 50 I don't need the extra 50 to mess with?

Thoughts

How about one 50ft hose and two 25ft hoses? That will give you even more options.

I like to use a 50ft with a 3 way plug on the end, then you can add more lines if you need to.

Not a bad idea but trying to keep it simple. Don't want a bunch of hoses either. Figure 50 and 50 is a solid combo......if I was to have a third I'd probably get a 50 ft coil hose for those 20-30 f6 jobs

Advice.....still looking for more input on what mobile detailed are actually using more than suggested ideas.

Thanks

A hose reel with 100' of hose would be my choice.

Why? Do you use this currently?

Guys please...Explain why you'd choose your choices and the experiences you've had to warrant the choice. Anyone can throw their hat in the circle....there is a reason why some hats get picked last :)

One hose and neatly coiled. You can kick my hat out of the circle if you choose too.

Haha thanks for the feedback. Just trying to make a point to all. That type of feedback helps.

Thanks for your input dude

I'm basically mobile only and just carry two 50' ones with me.

I used to bring a 50' and a 100', but I rarely used the 100' one and it's a bigger pain to deal with.

The 50' ones just make life easier IMO.

Edit: But a hose reel would be nice too for something longer like a 100'er.

I like the 2 50's for simplicity PLUS its only one connection to mess with. Get to the job, quickly pace off the furthest distance to the work area, connect it if it's 51' or greater and get to work. Maybe a hose reel for the first or primary 50' section. Simple, fast and slightly more economical.

Use 2 50 ft. and only use what's needed. .
Friction loss occurs when water passes through a hose. Distance, diameter, and the GPM / volume, all affect friction loss. As water passes through a hose, friction between the water and the inside surface of the hose, and couplings cause turbulence. This turbulence reduces the PSI available at the hose end. The higher the gpm passing through a hose or pipe, the more turbulance and friction loss will result. Also, as hose diameter decreases, friction loss increases exponentially.
A 25-foot, 1/2-inch diameter hose attached to a faucet that supplies water at 40 psi has a flow rate of 24 gallons per minute, while a 100-foot hose only has a flow rate of 6 gallons per minute due to friction loss

50 foot is plenty. Go with the blue 3'8 hose rather than the standard grey which will burst on you. And 100 ft will put a strain on the house reel. If I need a extra 50 ft I can rent it for 25 a day. To buy is 100. 00 Blue hose. I never needed 100 ft on any job is I'm short I will just move the van closer to the work site.

Great point, Bill. Firefighters deal with friction loss all the time.

Thanks. I was firefighter, engineer, Capt., then Chief on our fire dept. It still amazes me how much that experience and training carries over to other things.

Eh, bah humbug on that science and engineering stuff. It's all about being able to make deals...with the people that understand that science and engineering stuff.

Yes, but there is also science and engineering stuff after the deal. Which compound, polish, cleaners, etc to get the job done with the least amount of work and best results.
Science is a beautiful thing!
Of course, most people throw all that out the window and just drive through the swirl-o-matic.

Sorry, that was my poor attempt at humor about the modern world.

Back to hoses. I have nothing to add until I my patent comes through for my Bluetooth hose that doesn't have to be hooked up to a faucet.
