I was using these on my flex 3403 today with menzerna super finish to trim out a car's edges. I was using tyem fully primed and with enough product to polish but not so much to be clogging the pad. Cleaning pads after each 18"x3" section.

The face of each pad now has chunks taken out. I even saw some of these pieces come off while polishing. Every other LC, griots, and b&s pad i have used never has exhibited this. These are my only two hydro techs and i like the sharp edge for this work but dont want to order more if this is commonplace.

Yep have the same issue with my 3in pad/s as well.

Although off the top of my head I don't know which color (cyan or tangerine) it was, but I'll check later when I'm home. (Maybe both of them)

The adhesive holding the Velcro started coming off as well.

Won't buy them again.

My hydro pads are coming apart too...LC needs to listen and respond to this somehow!!!

Yes, they can sometimes basically be throw away pads. The foam isn't too durable - the glue for the Velcro ain't great either.

However, nobody really makes a great 3" pad I've found.

This sucks. So i guess all hydropads are junk. I have griots 3" pads but haven't polished enough to know their durability

Just checked my pads...

Cyan: Velcro coming off and worn away in spots where the Velcro is

Tangerine: Worn away in spots where the pad meets the paint

I stopped using the cyan hydro-shred pads long ago for this same reason. Don't have really any issues with the Tangerine hyrdo pads, but the last time I used my remaining cyan pad, I ended up with a shop that looked like a cyan nightmare.

Didn't have too much love for the Hydrotech 4" I used last year either, Velcro separation, and moth eaten foam after little use.

I really hope this isn't the case with all the 3" hydro's. I just used a 3" tangerine on my GG da and it performed flawlessly on my Harley gas tank. The highest speed I used was 4.5 , then down to 3.

I wonder how the 3.25" optimum mf pads would work on a rotary. I also see 3m makes 3" pads but they are the wavy face kind. Ive used one only for headlight polishing with their kit and i wasnt a big fan of the face profile.

Could the rotary be generating too much heat for the pad?

I too have had the same issues with the cyan hydros "4 pads... The tangerine seems to hold up well though

I was set on the lowest speed and the trigger was only half depressed at that. Paint surface was not hot and honestly one of my two cyan pads was ruined on the 3" gg da...

Man that sucks...I have 4" hydros to use on my Rupes Mini - no bueno

Be ordering Rupes pads in the near future!

In the description for these hydro pads the terms 'water based polishes' is used many times. Just wondering if they're intended use is mainly for water based polishes?

They specifically say to use with menzerna, which i am...

My cyan 3in velcro come off after 1 use fore about 5-10 mins max. I hear everyone likes them and this is rare. Kind of glad other people are having similar issues.

I was planning to order a bunch of these but now I am not so sure.
