I have seen posts from members talking about the 3" DA backing plate.

I just ordered the Griots 3" polisher kit which will arrive today.

Do I need a 3" DA backing plate to work with my new Griots polisher ?

As you can tell I am not an expert when it comes to detailing.

Thanks

So, what is the advantage of the 3" polisher if I can get a 3" plate for my 6" polisher? Or is that even possible?

The advantage of the GG3 is that it can fit into tighter areas compared to its bigger brother. Also having both machines is another plus as you don't have to switch plates all the time. Keep the GG3 outfitted with the small plate for tight areas and the GG6 setup with your larger pads.

Yes, it is possible. The Lake Country backing plates for the PC work on the GG6. I have multiple backing plates and just switch them out. I don't have to worry about switching back and forth in the middle because I just usually do the smaller areas first with the 4" spot pads, then come back and do all the larger areas with 6.5" or 5.5" pads. Could it shave off a little time having two machines to work each panel as I go? Probably, but for now, I'm okay with just the one machine and spending my money on products instead.
