Hi guys I'm at home resting from a broken collar bone that happened yesterday. Now I have time to do some light shooping :props:. I have a problem deciding what size backing plate and foam pads to get, for tight areas like bumpers and around window areas. I have a meguairs v2 with 5.5" CCS Pads but find the size to big at times, especially with newer cars. I don't really care for the ccs pads either they observe to much product. I have also notice that I have a very limited # options on pads if I buy the 3" backing plate. What do u guys reccomend?
Here are the backing plates I'm thinking of getting

LC-43-073DA Dual Action 3 Inch Flexible Backing Plate

LC-43-085DA Dual Action 3.5 Inch Flexible Backing plate

If you're going to use 3" pads get the 3" backing plate.

IF you're going to use 4" pads, get the 3.5" backing plate.

Be careful, when using small pads on relatively large tools the tool becomes tippy when working on horizontal panels.

Focus on the task at hand...

:)

I was wondering how the tool would handle with a 3" pad thanks for input Mike. also any idea when u guys will have ironx in stock again?

Good grief Moses, How can ya use a keyboard with a busted collar bone!!!!!!!!! lol.

I'm gonna get both the LC-43-073DA Dual Action 3 Inch Flexible Backing Plate and the LC-43-085DA Dual Action 3.5 Inch Flexible Backing plate. That way, I'll use the one that works best under which ever surface.

Haha I'm using an iPad so that helps, I too would like to have both but my funds are very limited.

One last question, can I buy microfiber pads and use m105 & m205 with it or do I need a special compound ? Thank u

Using Microfiber pads is real popular with M105 for people only using a DA Polisher because you get great defect removal on shallow DA Haze that is easily removed with the next polishing step.

Trying to use M205 with a microfiber pad will tend to finish out nicer than M105 with microfiber pads but you may still see DA Haze. A better option would be to finish out with a foam pad.

At this time, foam still finishes out nicer than any fiber pad on the widest spectrum of paint systems.

Also note, Meguiar's only recommends the DA Microfiber System for working on factory paint, not re-paints because there is a chance for micro-marring on softer repaints that is less of an issue with factory baked-on paints.

See this video as it addresses all concerns plus shows proper techniques...
