Have you ran an Adwords campaign with poor results?

It's actually fairly common for the first round of testing to have poor results.

The big difference is consistently improving your campaign.

This can be achieved by:
[+] A/B testing ads
[+] Tracking metrics
[+] Refining targeted keywords

There are dozen and dozen of factors that come into play when running an Adwords campaign.

Initially I was going to show the basics of setting up a campaign, but I figured most people are already running campaigns.

The point of this post is top hopefully make some of you realize why your results aren't what you want them to be and hopefully to either pull the plug on the campaign or start improving on it.

Reason #1: It’s a Daily Task, Not Weekly Or Monthly
How many times do you check your Adwords campaign: Once a week? Every two weeks? Maybe not at all?

Not only should you be checking your campaign on a daily basis, but if you don’t have a decent budget while tracking your data with properly optimized landing pages, your campaign will perform poorly.

Reason #2: Sending Visitors To The Wrong Page
Putting your homepage link as the landing page for your ad campaign is going to give you horrible results.

The homepage isn’t relevant, so the quality score is low, which means you end up paying more for your clicks without getting visitors to contact you.

Reason #3: Grouping Keywords Incorrectly
If you’re stuffing ALL your keywords into one ad, you’re doing a common and costly mistake.

For a quick example, “Mobile Auto Detailing” and “Mobile Car Detailing” should not be in the same list of targeted keywords. It’s even worse if you have “Mobile Car wash” and “Paint Correction” in the same group.
