$30 Wax that Beats Zymole Royale ($8,500)?!

I know this post may stir up some controversy since price does not necessarily correlate to quality in any industry, but I am quite surprised after reading the results of the Big Wax Test! It is a relatively old post but I thought it was worth noting. A $30 wax beats a $8,500 wax  I know that the results from wax applications may be somewhat subjective. The results were broken down to categories to help create a unified rating system. The blind testing removes any predisposition due to brand, reputation, etc.

I am aware that a lot has to do with marketing the object, but the results are impressive nonetheless. Isn't the true value of a wax what the results of the the actual wax are, rather than the "premium" bottle in came in, marketing info, etc?

I'm not sure if we are allowed to post links, but the test was done on several black cars of the same year and model, and posted on DetailingWorld came out with the following results:

1st: Swissvax Best of Show = 61pts
2nd: Marque D' Elegance Premium Show Car Wax, a.k.a Collinite 915 = 56pts
3rd: Zymole Royale = 48pts
4th: Autoglym HD Wax = 47pts
5th: Zaino Z2 = 46pts
6th: Raceglaze 55 = 42pts

I know that there are waxes not included in the test, like Wolfgang Fuzion, or Pete's 5050, etc. But a $30 wax with such great results?! Needless to say, I've put in my order for a Collinite 915, which should be a great addition next to the Collinite 845 :xyxthumbs:

Comments, ideas?

Kind of like saying: "K-Mart bag beats Hermes bag". It's all subjective, with an infinite number of variables.

I honestly don't see the comparison. That products you mention bags which you carry around that have an element of design, social element, etc related to them.

This review above is testing wax, which does rely on design, etc. Once the wax is out of a bottle and applied, you see the results on a car. Unless you slap on a decal saying detailed with Zymol Royale or Swissvax :)

-Does a 5 years old wax test still stand-up against:
The hands-of-time/The hands-of-certain detailers?

-Are the Guru Wax reporters' breeches still: "all in a bunch"?

(Stay tuned.)

Yes! Indeed...
Collinite has some very good wax offerings at quite reasonable price-points.

If there was a new test today, I'm pretty sure that sv cr would displace sv bos and that a relatively cheap (less than 200 bucks) show car wax, af illusion would be in the top 3 from what I've seen. I'd love to see some of these new waxes in person.

And I think collinite has it's place. Mostly for winter use and wheels because it's durable. I don't like collinite's clarity. I do believe you get what you pay for up to a certain point. I believe that af is going to give sv a run for its money. A lot cheaper than sv, but nearly on par or maybe even better than sv. It's still expensive by ag standards, but in the high end wax world, af stuff is a bargain.

There are two products I keep under lock and key for car shows...one is Wet glaze 2.0, and the other is Collinite 915.

Total cost about $50 and they are worth more to me than a box full of anything else in my detailing bag of tricks.

The challenge to spending hundreds to thousands of dollars on waxes likely means your mind will see things to jusify the purchase and price. If you want something limited that "might" be special then buy these high priced waxes, if not well I haven't seen very notable differences over a hundred dollar version personally.

+1000

The durability of WG 2.0 is equal to some nubas and the WOW factor (IMO) goes to WG 2.0 . I would rather use MaxWax, Pete's 53 or Colly and top with WG 2.0 then spend $$$ on a nuba that has the same longevity as WG 2.0.

I've been meaning to try this, might have to pick it up on my next order!

x2 ^ was really impressed with it! dani why haven't you sent my any pictures of the green machine wearing it? lol

You must understand that those waxes are hard to make, ( Like Wine ) They get Aged...
For another bonus, those expensive waxes have Much better protection then any other wax.

lol drink the koolaid then my man, whatever burns your rubber

lol knuckles my man, you didn't know? the more you pay the better the wax is!
