Has anybody had experience using these new 3M foam compounding pads?

How do they compare to Lake Country yellow or Megs burgundy pads?

I hate my LC Orange pad because the foam starts to disintegrate after a couple of uses. The megs last longer but they are expensive here in the Philippines.

Here they are

Here's a pic

The part number for the convoluted foam cutting pads we stock from 3M are 05737 (single side) and 05706 )double sided), the pads in your picture have the part number 05723

Just want to make sure that's pointed out.

The feel of this white foam cutting pad is more similar to a polishing pad as it's softer than most foam cutting pad and less dense.

I have not tried these new versions but convoluted foam cutting pads does tend to buff cooler than flat foam cutting pads.

Wool cutting pads cut cooler than foam cutting pads when all other factors are the same.

What are you primarily working on?

If you're removing sanding marks in a body shop situation the a wool pad would be a good way to go, if you're doing primarily reconditioning work, i.e. detailing neglected cars, then you might like this pad for that type of compounding.

:)

Thanks for pointing that out.

I would probably use the pad for all around work > to remove sanding marks from repainting or for removing medium to heavy swirl marks.

I need an all around pad which will last long. IME, LC pads don't offer that. :)
