Mike,

As kind of a follow up to my compound question, I have this.

If you were stuck on an island, and your only way off was to successfully polish 100 crappy cars (with differing problems), which 5-6 polishes/compounds would you want to have??? :)

Thanks!

Feed back please

Menzerna -- SIP, Nano , 085rd
Megs --- 105 , 205

PowerFINISH is another one that "could" make the list.

I am curious who would vote Menz Power Gloss over Megs 205???

Also, why??? (other than that you have always used one of them:))

PowerGloss is a compound ...205 is a finishing polish. If asking about PowerFINISH 203 then its got a bit more bite initially but IMO finishes down as nicely as 205. Clearly personal preference.

In order of importance:

1. M105
2. 85rd
3. SSR2
4. PB P w/ Sealant
5. WG Paint cleansing polish

SORRY!! Typo.... I meant 105 or Menz Power Gloss:)

Meg's 105/205 for sure. Menzerna 85rd.. I used it for the first time on my car and wow it does finish nicely after the meg combo.

But I have to ask.. I have not used Menzerna's SIP/Nano/106FF (btw I cannot find 106FA.. am I searching for something wrong?) is it that much better?

I do have Wolfgang Twins and it does do the job but I find on harder clearcoats (like Corvettes) it will barely touch it.. I have to go to Meg's 105/205. Is the SIP/nano better than the Wolfgang twins?

From what I understand, Wolfgang TSR has more cut than SIP, but actually has Nano mixed in it - it is also made by Menzerna

Nano is 106FA - new formulation of Super Finish (still called Super Finish "Nano") - its on AG under the Menzerna heading.... As towards being better, I have only used the new version of Nano, so I'm not positive - it says that it finishes better... (more gloss)

M105
M205

Wolfgang TSR
Wolfgang FG

Meguiar's D151
3M Ultrafine

That's 6, but those are 6 polishes across the whole spectrum in terms of aggressiveness. Gotta have all your bases covered if you're going to be dealing with cars that can have very hard, or very soft paint.

Maybe I'm just a lil bit too much of a newb but how many stages of polish do you need?

As many is necessary. One step (fine polish or paint cleaner), two step (medium and fine polish), or three step (heavy, medium, and fine polish) sessions are common with respect to the paint's condition and workability.

Cool, thanks. :props: Although, I gotta admit I thought I was doing enough when I was using the M105/205 a couple of months ago. Still kinda lost though
