58 million severance pay.

I thought Mike Phillips got canned and hit it big time on the way out the door.

Hey man, the yachts and private planes won't pay for themselves ya know

It's messed up for sure but the trickle down is fascinating. I own a marine diesel repair business and when you look at the economic impact the uber wealthy have, it's amazing.

I work for a lot of very wealthy people. It is amazing to see how different they live compared to the other 99%

I don't know why but I've never begrudged wealthy people.
There are a lot of things I don't have that I wish I did and I've always felt it was entirely my fault and no one else's.
Just never felt like a victim.
Consumers give their money to private companies voluntarily.
The Government on the other hand...

Yeah, more power to Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, etc. What did this guy do to earn 58 million bucks in 15 months (plus his salary). Did he invent Yahoo? Did he invent the internet like Al Gore? There is a difference between a wealthy person who is wealthy because he is smart or successful...I'm not sure a guy who got fired after 15 months is either...but he certainly is wealthy.

Disclaimer: I don't know anything about this guy (or is it a gal?), and I'm sure some will say I don't know anything, period.

I am grateful I don't have that covenant/jealous feeling either. I am around it so much and witness many of the problems they have. More money = more problems is all I get out of it

Supply and Demand

If someone is willing to pay you $50 an hour or $5,000 an hour...they have decided that you are worth it.

Being awarded $58 Million in severance pay is, no doubt, laughable to many CEOs that have received severance and retirement packages over the last 10 years or so.

Someday if you guys, Mr. Jack Welch and friends,
get a chance:
Would you tell de Castro like it could have been?
{How's that pronounced? Oh yea: What a Yay-hoo!}

Bob

$58,000,000 was his reward for poor performance and he was let go...

Unfortunately, Castro's venture with Yahoo didn't work out, perhaps if he succeeded he would have received substantially more....

And here I thought only Congress got paid for lack of performance. You mean the holy private sector is with sin too? Noooooo. Say it's not so.

Corruption and greed are everywhere. Its been that way since man discovered he could acquire things he wanted without working for it. The numbers are larger now but the principal remains the same.

:applause:

I think it started in the Garden of Eden.
