This car was restored at a body shop/restoration center. The job they did with the paint was sub-par for a classic like this. There are sanding marks in the primer throughout the entire car. The roof was especially bad. There was a good amount of sanding marks left from the wet sand and buff, plus several burn through areas. Also, the flat black on the hood was not sprayed evenly. There are spots where it was darker than other areas.

I pointed everything out to the customer prior to doing the job. He was aware of some of the issues, but not all. Especially the burn through areas. Which I documented.

The goal of this detail was to spot wet sand a few areas that had orange and deeper scratches. Then a full compound and polish.

And the afters - Going to apologize it was a rainy day so no real sun shots. I had to wait for the rain to slow to get the car out of the garage so I could even get the pics. You'll notice some rain drops in the pics.

Thanks for reading!

Very nice job Jason! I'm sure the owner was happy with the improvement.

such a beauty ... would love a Boss 302 or 429 personally.

Quite a turn around.

I bet the owner wishes that he brought you the car first.

-Great-looking detail on a great looking-vehicle, SeaJay! :props:

-If I may inquire: How did the 'burn-throughs' turn out?

Thanks.

:)

Bob

Great job! I have a friend with one that same color and year. Love it!

Excellent job. Thanks for fixing this true American classic. :props:

Now that's a "car"

And that's how you tape-off and buff out a car.

And this is a great example of a good write-up.

Nice work Jason! :xyxthumbs:

By the way, when I worked at Meguiar's one of the chemists had the dark green version of this car and I thought he was pretty cool for owning it and actually driving it to work once in a while. Then he sold it and bought a 4-door Jeep. My guess is at some point he'll regret that choice.

Great work. I really appreciate it. You make the car as it was in new
condition. Well done man. Your car is shinning like a star. Its reflecting
the light. Greatttttttttttttttttttt.

Thanks Bob!

The burn through areas stayed the same. Every gap and panel edge was taped off before any compounding was done. And I kept the tape on the areas that had burn through when I did my secondary polish to ensure no further damage.

Appreciate the kind words Mike! Thanks!

And I'm sure he'll regret that decision as well.

Great write up...as always. Is the owner going to do anything about the burn throughs and uneven painting of the hood?

He said he was going to get some touch up paint for the burn throughs. I told him that probably wasn't going to work too well. But it's his car.

As far as the hood, I think he's just going to keep it that way.
