In preparation for my buddy's annual car show at his house, I detailed his 72 Catalina and 66 Chevy II. He's has some health issues in the past month and he was unable to detail his cars to the level that he likes so I helped him out. He takes great car of them so they were easy to clean up. They had never been clayed before and we were both surprised how dirty the paint really was.

Here is what I used.

Griot's Garage 6" Orbital
GG Clay
GG Orange and Red pads
GG One Step Sealant
Megs 105 (only on top surfaces of Chevy II)
GG Carnuba Stick

I did not have time to take any before pictures but here are a few from yesterday when they were pulled out of the garage. The Chevy II just glowed in the sun. His Catalina is such a cool car. He bought it when he was 15. He just turned 50.

awwwww!!! black pontiac, no pinstripes, with cragars, tooo f'ing cool man! that thing is gorgeous!!!

Very nice work!

Both cars are sweet but man that convertible 1972 Catalina is so cool... it also has to be very rare. I've been to a zillions of car shows and don't remember ever seeing a convertible version like you detailed.

Thanks for sharing...

Mike, the Catalina is my favorite as well. It's a blast to drive. I've never seen another one like it. There is a 75 Grand Ville that we see at car shows from time to time but it's very stock (burgandy with white interior and the original rally wheels).

It's came with a 400 but that was replaced with a 428 out of a 69 Grand Prix back in the late 70's. Believe it or not, that car has over 300,000 miles on it.

The Chevy II just scares the hell out of me...at least in the passenger seat!

There's a Grand Ville around my home town, black in in horrendous condition. I'm going to try to bring it to the Show Car Garage Studio for an Extreme Makeover.

Wow! but not surprised.

It's always less scary to be the person controlling the steering wheel, gas pedal and brakes.
