this car has some serious history with the owner.
it was his first car, and has owned it for 21+ years.

it was originally a moon roof car, and he had the top cut and replaced with a T-Top roof!
it has also had 4 paint jobs over the years.
several motor builts and set ups.

he just replaced the rear end with a beefed up and narrowed rear
upgraded front coilover suspension
full wilwood brake set up all 4 corners
motor is built and has a bit of spray running through it!
roll cage, but retained most of interior

last year his best time was a 10.6! that was all motor and before the rear end upgrades.

it was an absolute pleasure working on this car, being how the history and sentimental value behind it.

there was a LOT of rubber on the rear quarters and wheel wells, being how it's a track car, the paint was the only concern with removal.

did a waterless wash
clay
polished with 3D HD polish on MF pad
essence on black LC finish pad
topped with reload
wheels were hit with mothers metal polish and power cone for a quick freshen up.

Really was enjoying your post until the middle finger pic. It's to bad man. You had a nice post going with solid work and a sweet car.

Has a 77/78 front end. Is it really a 79?

yep. it's a 79 with the earlier front end, and t-top roof conversion.

i'll see if i can have the owner send me some photos of the process.

Nice job on the detail. I have a 1979 Trans Am and I think they are a real nice car.

When I drag raced many years ago I would apply a very thin coat of vaseline on the lower rear quarters and wheel wells before a day at the races and I would be able to easliy wipe the rubber off.

Beatiful work and a true survivor of a automobile.
