Single Stage Red Paint
I was in search of the perfect vehicle for me to detail and test XMT4. This vehicle was not cared for at all. The paint was chalky pink and the interior was a mess. That’s why I jumped at the chance to detail this one. There were a lot of scratches and some rust but overall the condition of the car was not bad as far as dings or scrapes. The tires were fairly new but the rims were shot.

Here are a few before pics.

Wash - Two bucket method Pinnacle Shampoo, white ShMitt. The paint was so dry that it felt as though I was putting a MF to dry concrete.

Interior – Vacuum all interior and mats done. I also used Folex on the mats to remove some spots. To remove all of the built up dust I simply wiped the interior with DP Surface Protectant. I went back a few days later and hit the interior again with DPSP, I love that banana scent.

Tires – DP Wheel Gel with black ShMitt, completed with AA Extreme Gel wiped down with MF.

Windows – Diamondite Perfect Vision with Cobra Glass Towel.

Paint – Products used: XMT 4, XMT2, XMT 1, Wolfgang Deep Gloss Spritz Sealant and Souveran Past as the LSP.

Here’s a series a of pics that run from XMT4 – XMT1

XMT4 with a yellow Edge pad made a tremendous change in the paint.

Here’s a split hood shot with the tape off.

At this point I started to work on the other side of the hood and decided to go from XMT4 to XMT2 and then XMT1 on the rest of the car.

MR2 Afters

Once I finished the XMT series I applied Wolfgang Deep Gloss Spritz Sealant twice and then topped it off with 2 coats of Souveran Paste.

All comments and questions are appreciated.

Nice job Al, but I was wondering if xmt 360 would have worked. You sure put alot of time on this ride. Aso, really nice post Al.

Great looking work :applause:

Thanks for the hood photo with the tape down the middle.
Your write up was 1st class, very good.

Still to cold here to detail

Wow!!! Thank you for sharing. That was fun to follow your progress. Looks just great.

Great detail and write up AL. The little signs on the windows must be a 1st. I just want to know how did you get all those little holes in car???

I'm a patient woman and I'm not afraid to use a drill.:p

Wow, I did enjoy that, step by step. That was great seeing that. I'd applause you for doing that. You made that car look new.

Very nice Al :applause: Everyone look at the white note...that is just :righton: illustrates really well...wow :applause:

This baby, must have taken you a full day if not two. I don't think XMT 360 would have done a great job as what Al did, with paint this bad you had to go through the process.

The color looks wet, so...um...any pictures of the fasion this time? :D

He has a facial expression like...."Wow that's magic!"
Great transformation! went from pink to red. Boy you did a bunch of steps, but they were worth it.

Thank you for the positive feedback! I had fun doing this car and the owner was very pleased.
His reaction made it all worthwhile. Here are a few more before and after pics.

I have to admit that I didn’t do this all by myself; I had my trusty helper Jo-e with me.

Awesome turnaround on that MR-2!! Enjoyed the little signs on the windshield! That's a great idea! Also great that you caught the reaction of the owner in that pic!!

Nice job!!!! How long will that last before you have to do it again? Red is tough color. No clear correct?

Awesome job! Absolutely amazing. I love the series of photos with the signs. It really shows the dramatic difference. Great picture of the car and your helper too! Also, the shots by the water make a really nice background.

Again, you did a great job and an excellent write up!
