That right but in 70' it was measured as engine hp still, that 400 hp figure is probably at the crank which is still probably more than even that LS6 you mention and certainly more than the 390 hp version for sure.In '70 when the 454 first came out, it came in 390HP and 450HP versions.
By the 90's when it was a truck-only engine, it was down to less than 250HP, even in the 454SS truck.![]()
