I work part time at a Toyota dealer just outside of Chicago. Two days ago a guy bought a new Toyota Rav 4.He requisted that it not be washed or cleaned up in any way. All he wanted done is the stickers taken off the glass. The guys that prep new cars never seen this before. Since these guys were very busey they were very happy that they had one less car to do. We are careful when we clean new cars. Most car just get washed, a few will get spray waxed. We use Technitions Choice Spray and Glow which is a very good spray wax.

Sounds like an AGO'er for sure. Hopefully we'll see a new Rav 4 in the show-n-shine section soon!

I did the same same thing with my new car 2016 Golf R brought it home and detailed it myself and put a coating on it. I have also heard many guys on the VW forums do the same with the Golf R. I know I rather not take the risk of somebody putting any light swirls into my paint. If it happens it will be my fault :D

Either that or someone bringing to an AGer for a coating lol.

Good post. I factory ordered my truck. I live in a small town, so I knew when it was delivered to the dealership. I stopped by that day and made a sign with BIG letters that read "DO NOT WASH THIS TRUCK" and taped it to the middle of the steering wheel.

I've seen what their "detailing" crew can do to a new car or truck. Not pretty.

I'm jealous. Nice car! Have pics after the coating?

It's nice to hear from someone outside Chicago like myself. I also have the aqua glow spray wax. Do you apply that with the paint wet or dry?

Thanks,

Lou

I also requested my dealer not detail my car when I bought it 4 years ago but the damage was already done by them wiping them down daily using a dirty towel of some kind.
Bought it on a Thursday, took me all weekend to get the paint to my liking

I have a customer that I pickup her car at a Ford dealership where she works.
Every time I go there I see two guys back of the dealership cleaning cars using terrible wash methods.
