Getting my first Da polisher. I figure a cheap harbor fraight will do to learn on. Have always been scared to use a machine. Lol
going with lake county 3” backing plate & 3 1/2” foam pads. Will be using on a Harley Davidson Ultra Classic vivid black.
plan on using megurie d300, HD speed & collinite 845. Hope this is a good combo to learn.
bike has moderate scratches & swirls.
time to read and learn, thanks for helping us common folks learn detailing.

Welcome to AutogeekOnline! :welcome:

There are a ton of foam pads on the market and while the HF polisher has the power to rotate thick pads I would still encourage you to get thin foam pads for your 3" backing plate.

Here's what happens to thick foam pads without a taper - the face of the pad twists inward turning a 3.5" pad into a 3" pad. It just not a good buffing experience. With a thin pad, there's no extra foam to twist inward so it retains its shape and you maintaint a flat pad against the surface. I think you'll find this to be a much better buffing experience your first time out.

Here's the link to two brands of thin foam pads, either are good...

Lake Country ThinPro Foam Pad System 3.5 Inch

Griots Garage 3 inch BOSS Foam and Microfiber Pads

Here's the Griot's Conversion Kit and this will fit on your HF polisher
