Today a customer of mine for a couple of years brought this 2002 RAV4.
On a trailer.

Here's my plan.

Remove seats and carpets
Well, you guys know what I'm up against.
Big money job:dblthumb2:

This one I'm calling a salvage cleaning.
He made a great deal on it, once I'm done he's selling it for a profit.
I told him not so fast. Lol

Pictures to follow once I'm done.

Kevin

You better invest in a TyVek suit when cleaning that one. Who knows what contaminants you will encounter. Good Luck!

I am consistantly amazed by how nasty people will let their vehicles get. What makes it worse is they are so lazy about it they wait till it is completely repulsive then they pay someone else to clean up their mess.

I know you charge a good penny for the service, but it's still just nasty.

###,Thats a crap load of dirt. I am an autogeek and I keep my car immaculate, but even a person that does not much would never let a car get that dirty.

He should have just kept driving and taken it to the junk yard, it's probably worth more in parts. What a nasty hunk of junk. I have a 2003 Xterra and you can eat off the interior. LOL!!!

Mine has sat out in the Florida sun for 11 years, basically washed every so often and sealed every 5-6 months, it really hasn't been overly babied. Like Bill1234 said, it doesn't take much to keep a vehicle looking half way presentable. That is just plain gross. Bet their house looks like that too, who knows maybe they were on an episode of hoarders!!!

You have your work cut out for you KEVIN:)

Sure do,vin fact I almost passed on this one , but the money is just too good.
I'll have to juggle this one into the mix of my other cars I'm working on.
I did tell him it wouldn't be ready today, nor tomorrow. Lol

My one and only employee was like, oh man, wth!

:iagree: :dblthumb2:

I wouldn't touch that for less than $1,000.00 and more like $1,500.00

Getting there..

Kelly Blue Book indicates that a 2002 Toyota RAV4 in good condition with 144k miles is worth $3,100

Always confused on these

If they are trading it in, the dealer will wholesale it and a full detail seems a waste of money

sporty,

Are you saying $1,000-$1,500 based on an hourly rate or because it is disgusting?

He bought it wrecked, made all the repairs himself.
Customer still thinks he can make a profit on it once I'm done with it.

I really don't see any profit in it when all is said done, can't wait to see finished pictures.

Because it's disgusting and the money too, looks like at least a 20 maybe 30 hour job, thinking $50.00 an hour as a target rate. I don't charge hourly rates myself but I try to estimate a job so I make around $50 an hour.

I have about 18 hours in it, working this one between other job.
Hope to be done with it tomorrow , another 8-10 hours.

I under charged him, doing it for $800.00.
The owner will bring 6 more cars for me to work on but not this bad, plus he's bringing his personal BMW for some TLC:dblthumb2:

About 3k of work, I'm looking at the big picture now.

thats great KEVIN! Sometimes you have to take a hit on one to get other cars to do:xyxthumbs:

I'm looking forward to the after pics..

And for the record, $800 is $800, that's all I'm sayin..

Is the $800 for the interior only?

If not; what else is the RAV being treated to?
