a late hello from a detailer in Indonesia

Good day fellow detalers,

I have joined the forum a while ago, but seemingly forgot to introduce myself..
Anyways, I live in the wonderful city of Jakarta, Indonesia where my car only endures sun and rain (acid rain).

I used to be detailing my car, family cars quite often - every 2 weeks to be exact when i was still doing my college studies, however now that I'm working full time in a shipping company delivering containerized cargo I'm unfortunately still finding ways to balance my life with work, wife & detailing, and I'm expecting my first child in coming days.

Congrats on the coming of your 1st child; when my kids came along it changed my life in ways I hadn't dreamed of. I got into AG after having a serious car collision with a guy who ran a light, totaled my truck, and put me in the hospital. After getting out of the hospital, I needed to get a vehicle quick, because I work 2 jobs and I need my income from both. What I picked up was a decent car that had dark colored paint, something I had avoided in the past when buying cars because dark paints swirl so easily and are hard to maintain. For self-defense I had to learn how to deal with this challenge, and that brought me to AG. I am so glad it did, because it opened a new world to me, and believe it or not, this is a type of therapy for me that gives me a lot of satisfaction. So between having two jobs, being a single father to 2 wonderful children, and being exhausted at times, the only opportunity I get to really work on my car is on weekends when the weather co-operates. I do it on every available chance, as I think you will, because it becomes a hobby that can border on obsession. (a joke) Good luck in your endeavors in life and in detailing. Sorry for being so long winded.

Detailing for me is just one of the ways I achieve life's balance....unless something doesn't go quite right of course!! :laughing:

Wow thank you all for the friendly welcome :), and my wife just gave birth to a baby daughter on Tuesday.

@JSMet: incredible story you got and I have to give much respect and praise to you for being a single father with two children and still having the time to detail and maintain your car. Hopefully I can learn and follow your path in the journey of life :)

@Meghan: thanks for the welcome, and yes, Jakarta, Indonesia is certainly a new market with many people interested in detailing, but too bad the prices for imported detailing products are not so price friendly as it is in the states. Its a huge market with alot of demands, but unfortunately the prices must go up, since the cost in delivering them from the states to s. east asia is expensive... but its the price to pay for quality goods :D

@BobbyG: thanks for the welcome, and Your absolutely right, detailing to me "was" in the past the same way for me to balance the real world with my interests, but now that im busy with work and with family and with my new daughter, I still need to make a new time-table to put in Detailing :D

@MikePhillips: thank you for the welcome, I'm a deep admirer of yourself, and all your answers and guidelines that I have read in the past and still do have helped me very much with broadening my mind and techniques in detailing.
