I have a 2012 black Tundra. I have not touched my DA to my truck yet but got a little froggy this evening and thought I would debadge the"SR5" off of the rear door pillar. I used a 3 inch Meg's MF finishing pad with d300, roughly 4-6 passes left to right then 4-6 passes up and down. Minimal to no pressure. I then used another Meg's mf finishing pad with 205 and did the same amount of passes. It looked really nice I thought but it looks cloudy compared to the rest of the paint. Can see very very light scratches/swirls. View attachment 14780right after I took the badge off.

View attachment 14783in the garage, not the best pic. Sorry

What have I done wrong, not work the 205 long enough? Not use a cutting pad for the d300? I was a little scared to keep going on that spot. I know I shouldn't be but.... I'm a newb!

In my experience Yotas have soft paint, haze could be from too aggressive product/pad combo. I would try a foam polishing or finishing pad with 205 or fine finishing polish like Menzerna SF4500.

I agree with the sf4500 with a lc blue Pad. I have a black Acura TL and it has really soft paint as well and sf4500 works amazing at getting that last little bit of haze out

Well I have LC CCS orange, white, and blue coming in the mail some time soon. I have no menz 4500 though.

Try the LC CCS blue with 205, if that doesn't work pick up some SF4500 you won't regret it. As a matter of fact you will probably want to do the entire vehicle with it, it is a great polish for jeweling.

Geez I'll have to place another order. My wife is going to kill me. I already bought some Menz CL what else from the Menz line is good? 4000, 4500? Anything else else while I'm placing the order?

I have around 1/2 a bottle of po85rd, same product as the SF4500. I used it on a lexus that had a similar problem on portions of the hood and front bumper.

Let me know if you would like to try some, i have a few sample size bottles i can put some into.

just give me a ring or stop by the house.

Hey thanks Chris I really appreciate your help. I might do that this afternoon if the the wife and weather permits. I may have you take a closer look to see what you think. Thanks again, seriously this forum and everyone on it have been extremely helpful and amazing to talk to and learn from.

Real nice bro!

Before you go nuts try some foam finishing pads with 205, me thinks the MF was too aggressive for the paint.

Think I should have used the D301 instead of the 205 after the D300 since that pair works together with that MF Meg's kit?

Forgot I have a new bottle of Optimum GPS. Will that work to clear up the haze?

I have a 2012 Tacoma, my wife has a 2012 Camry. I had a chance to use my PCXP on them today. I couldn't beleive how easy light swirls came out with a blue pad and xmt360 AIO. I did have one spot on my truck that I used a 4" green CCS. I had to follow that with something softer due to the DA haze it left. I don't have much experience but Toyota black is the softest paint I've ever had on any car.

p.s. my truck is black (202) her car is Attitude Black Metallic

Yep. I just did black 13 Camry with Meg's paint cleaner and then Megs D151 came out really nice and removed 90% of defects. AIO work real well on Yotas.

which AIO? Never used one yet. Still buying stuff for my collection. These little areas on my truck are the first I have touched the DA to it.

Oh and I also have some blue LC CCS pads coming soon I hope.

I used XMT 360. I really don't have any experience with any others. I'm really glad I took Mikes advice, "Use the least aggressive product to get the job done". Whats nice about AIO's in my opinion is they can be as gentle or aggressive as you want them to be, depending on pads and technique.

That's very true. I thought I was using the finishing mf pad but I guess that was still to aggressive. So I will wait til the foam pads come in and I will try my opt GPS with a blue foam pad. If that doesn't work I will find an AIO or use the Menz 4500 others were talking about.
