a proper interior detail.

customer brings me 99 expedition for minor interior detail so like all cars,first we vac then we pullout the air rachet to clean things up properly...

starting with removing seats and trim panels and carpet mouldings etc spray an acid base degreaser on everything including carpet aggitate with brush then use pressure washer to rinse then dry off all plastics and repaint with trim paint and after carpet drys out dye carpet as well then repaint trim on dash and door panels then on this one i removed the instument cluster cause it was a little dirty and buffed out the plastic with a rotory and wax then reasembled everything this proccess takes 3 days and cost 200.00..

heres some pics,btw a week after completeing this one the customer found someone willing to copy my work and do the same thing for 125.00 so i lost business from them..

I have seen some crazy things before, but, for $125.00 to do all that ! Looks like you are banging your head up against a wall.....by the time you do the math on the hours invested, makes you wonder if it was really worth it???????

I don't think I would ever go that far with a detail. Once you start disassembling parts of the vehicle you start to run the risk of breaking things or parts not going back together right. You never know, something might work perfect when you take it out, then not work quite right when you put it back in. Not only that, but if something quits working a week or two later, they might come back on you and say that it was something you did.

I am very mechanically inclined and not afraid to go that far and much further with my own vehicles, but just won't risk it if the vehicle is not mine.

I would tell them to take a flying leap for anything less than $600 to do what you did.

We had heavy rains one year and as a result several cars were flooded out. We charged $800-1000 to gut them out like you did, replace the insulation and put the interior back in.

On a vehicle that size I would be charging $200+ just to do a normal interior cleaning without removing things.

Truck turned out great but it's time to demand more $$$ bro. :cheers:

If not, then I gaurantee you that $125 for someone else's work, won't net the customer the same results. Don't sell your work short, that looked like at least a $400 job to me.

I have done that before, tore my buddies of civic apart, took everything out, honestly I wish I could do that to every car I detail, nice job. I wouldnt take anything less than 400 or 500 for a job like that depending on how big it is or how hard it was to take a part.

not 125 on this one,this one looked like it came off the showroom floor but for others like it the guys charging 125.00,i can buff ok too,but just cant seem to find work,this market is really bad rite now..

im down to wetsanding a complete car then compound polish wax etc and clear coating the head lights for 100.00..

hell an 08 black mercedes i had two days ago did bodywork and paint on right rear door,ground effect, hood,front bumper cover and cut an buffed the whole car plus made a lens for the drivers side mirror turn signal (after making the molds for 3hrs lens came out perfect from a clear sheet of plastic after pressing it and heating it,had a factory fit)this was a 350.00 job...

i know what your saying,but when bills are due,work must be done,like the otherdays mercedes 3hrs to detrim the whole door for paint ,removing the door handle sucks,those cars are sneaky i broke a moulding and had to take another hour to fix it after melting the plastic and copying the texture then trim paint that panel so you couoldnt tell it was ever messed with...

second problem in 50cars though so no a bad average i guess..
