Aaron Judge from my New York Yankees just hit home run #62. An American League record that has stood since 1961 when Roger Maris (of the Yankees) broke Babe Ruth's Yankee record of 60 set in 1927.

And in my opinion, it is the REAL MLB home run record as well.

Those steroid juice heads who hit more, (Sammy Sosa (68), Mark McGuire (70), and Barry Bonds (73) are all shams in my opinion.)

So congrats to the Judge! Baseball history right there........

I’ll give him a pass for now but all these guys are on “something”

Maris did it when juicing was not getting drunk the night before.

And one thing I’ll give the steroid era guys is they were hitting pitchers on roids too

Now I am not trying to start anything here-- and I am not into baseball at all now a days-- but didn't all them other guys you listed all deny juicing it up when they were playing? And they all passed pi$$ tests if I remember correctly.

So I would expect this guy to deny it also if he is on the juice

Peace brother

It was called the steroid era because baseball wasn’t testing for those substances. Conveniently turning a blind eye and enjoying the resurgence that those 3 gave to MLB ratings. And now those 3 are shunned even though baseball allowed it and pretty much encouraged it.

During that time, which pitchers were found to be on steroids?

if you look through the year Bonds hit 73, Sosa hit 66 and McGwire hit 70 (and 65).....none of the pitchers they hit HRs off of were named in the Mitchell report. The contention that they hit HRs off guys just as juiced as they were...can not be substantiated

Maris may have lived cleaner than other players of his era....hardly qualifies as 'juicing'

if you can name them, how many HRs did the Steroid Stooges hit off of them?

Would be interesting to know. Was going to look it up to see if I could find a list of pitchers but that would be speculation. This however, isn’t speculation.

How Much of a Role Did Steroids Play in the Steroid Era? - The Ringer

“noted that 36 of the 76 pro players suspended for PEDs in 2005—the first year that MLB players were subject to suspensions, and also the year that minor league violators’ names were publicly disclosed—were pitchers”

I did look it up.....Bonds hit 73 in 2001, Sosa and McGwire put up their highest number in 1998...well before 2005. The data is available, none of the pitchers listed were ever associated with any type of PED. I appreciate that the record books will not reflect the fact that all three juiced, and they will not changed, and that Bonds is the record holder. The widely held notion that Judge is not using any type of PED is simply not enough to declare him the "non-steroid record holder".,,,such a distinction does not exist. As a Yankee fan, his American League record is enough for me.

The record books won’t reflect the steroid use but it appears Cooperstown will.

Ummm…. Maybe don’t be so literal. Maris line was joke.

And if you want to be naive enough to believe hitters were juicing and pitchers weren’t just because they weren’t caught cheating you are welcome to it but I believe different.

If you look at 2003 “leaked” list

Clemens
Pedro
D Lowe
Contreras
Colon
F-rod
Zambrano
Prior
Woods
Freddy garcia

These were just some of the premier pitchers on the report. Top 100. You don’t think the majority was juicing? Just because they weren’t caught doesn’t mean they weren’t doing it.

Everyone juicing because everyone was juicing.

That being aside I do count Bonds as record holder because he was facing “enhanced” pitching.

Just because they weren't caught, does not mean that they were juicing either. That's fine if you choose to support your contention with opinion and conjecture. I provided data, from what's available, to support mine. Even if those pitchers were juicing when The Steroid Stooges were hitting their record numbers, the records indicate that they did not hit any home runs against those you listed.

As Dgage pointed out, thankfully Cooperstown is willing to take cheating into consideration. The record books do not have to.

Yeah but it’s based on a very small sample. I know some people who played in minors during that era and it was encouraged to everyone.

I would bet my house roger clemons was on d-ball or tess-- maybe both

I find the whole thing hypocritical. Major League Baseball loved the renaissance and regrowth of the game after the last strike. MLB didn’t want to test. But now they want to keep people out of the Hall of Fame for actions that were somewhat encouraged. It would be different if they were lying and cheating like Armstrong with the Tour De France as he was absolutely found to be cheating. But MLB didn’t want to know. But now people can’t get in because they might (likely) have cheated.

And yes I know it isn’t that simple as there are the owners and the players association. But the owners could have given something else up if the sanctity of the game was that important. Surprise, money was the only thing truly important.
