just a heads up guys...
i been using "square" for couple years, yes... i was happy to take cards , but got into an chargeback situation and square did not fight my case ....just be aware if you use them , find a different way to take cards,
also use authorization forms for all your cards taken , and device that takes chip cards....
you will be surprise to see how many faces people have.....

I just got signed up with square reader.
Thank you for the info.
Would you mind clarifying some of your thoughts?

is nothing to be clarify, if you end up in any chargeback situation , let`s say the client contest a carwash service done months ago , you are screwed ....
square will not fight for your case.
are hard to rich and believe me , your time and energy should focus on business and growing your business not chase square dispute department.

Cash or check please.I never take cards maybe since 2000 I've lost 4 jobs due to not taking cards. For some reason this area does not ask me if I take cards .They have the cash or check waiting till I'm done.My other business is 60 percent debit or credit the rest cash.keep it simple guys avoid unwanted aggravation.

Why would you expect Square to fight for you? They are a neutral party. You should have gotten a copy of the dispute form and responded with your side of the story, then they as a neutral party make a determination on the outcome. I had one guy dispute a charge, my CC company contacted me with the dispute, I told my side of the story including pictures of car when it came in and when it went out. I won the dispute, but only because I had the evidence to back my claim.
I was told this is how disputes worked. I doubt any CC company would take a side until they had all the evidence and can make a determination as to who is right.
My business is 95% credit card and in 8 years I have had one dispute/issue.

That is sad but what is the alternative?

With Square, I have no monthly fee, no equipment fee, no network fee, and the cost of doing a transaction is about 2,5% plus a few cents. On average I pay less than 5$ per transaction.

I checked with traditional credit card processors before I signed up with Square and they were charging 200$ to open the account, 100$ per month for the terminal, you have expenses for the paper the terminal uses, and the cost per transaction was higher than square.

So if the risk is having one transaction contested once in a blue moon (never happened to me in 3 years of using Square) or having to pay 100s of dollars more per year, I think the choice is easy.

If you documented the work you did with vehicle inspection sheets, pictures of the vehicle (before and after) and signature from the customer to authorise the work. You should be able to sue that person for a lot more than the cost of the detail because what he did is fraud.
