Oftentimes as detailers we see what many people can't. We look at a car that may look flawless to someone else but our eye catches every little defect. This client is a very successful surgeon and definitely has "the eye" for detailing as well as for cars. This is the first of several from his collection. He noticed some swirls appearing while looking at his car in the sun, and while it still looked great to him he wanted it to reach that next level.

Main concerns:
-Paint overspray removal
-Swirl & defect removal
-Paint protection/coating

Car was dropped off for a full two day correction, over 25 hours went into this vehicle. Two very long days...

Decontamination process:

Once the previous coat of wax had been removed the true finish came through. As you can see there are plenty of defects to be found.

Paint overspray required a very heavy clay bar to remove.

Once I nailed the combination I started polishing. Here are some 50/50 shots and before and afters of the results.

Into polishing I like to pull the car out into the sun to see how its coming along.

Here you can see the tape line on the left side from the 50/50 shots and the farthest side fully corrected. Notice the difference in clarity and shine.

Hood reflection coming through.

C Pillar corrected

Rear passenger door

Defects refract light instead of reflect it. Thus why scratched and swirled paint looks so hazy and dull.

Polished paint looks much different..

Beautiful work. That's the way a black car should look. Thanks for posting and sharing.

Beautiful. May I ask what was your products and tool of choice to achieve your results?

Wow, this looks great, very good job!

Is that your Scoobie on the street?

STUNNING WORK!

Now you said the surgeon has an eye for how a car should look too, right? If so, how in the HELL did it get to that point, WOW! In the one 50/50 shot the car looks like two different colors, my God! You really did a great job saving that car, no doubt about it!!!

BTW, don't know if that's your Subbie but its illegally parked, hope you didn't get a ticket!

Thanks gentleman! The owner was blown away with the final product, I don't think he knew a car could look that good as he already thought his car looked great. Looking forward to working on his 599 GTO next.

As far as products go, FG400 and a Meguiars MF finishing disc for cutting and HD Adapt and a green buff and shine pad was used for polishing.

Yes the Subi is mine! And don't worry, my neighbor parks there all the time with no problems so far. I normally park in the garage but had to move her out to the street while the V was getting surgery.
