As I noted earlier, I think these new ADS products (which I have not studied closely), at least the Detox, and the Labocosmetica 3pH system, are much milder than the old ABC or the similar FK system.
The premise as put forth by Labo, was that since coatings are much more chemically resistant than waxes and sealants, you can use a stronger wash(es) to remove contaminants that a neutral-pH wash won't, and that in many cases, these contaminants have corrupted the water behavior of your coating and made you think the coating had failed, when instead it was just "clogged" (a concept which has been gaining traction for a long time, and happens to waxes and sealants also).
Certainly Labo wasn't suggesting this would be something you needed to do every wash, unless you had some unusual circumstances, and I doubt ADS is suggesting that either.
As Chefwong noted in another recent thread, we have made the wash (detailing) process so complicated with all the specialized chemicals and tools, that it is verging on not being enjoyable anymore. Fortunately, we can choose to make detailing as complicated or uncomplicated as we want.
I'll just say this again--I've been on detailing forums for 20+ years, and everything has changed, yet nothing has changed. If you had told us (forum members) 20 years ago that in the future, instead of worrying whether our sealant/wax combo was going to last through winter, we'd be able to put a coating on our car that would be rated for 2 or 3 or 5 or 8 years, and that we could actually get 2 or 3 years out of it, we would have considered that the holy grail.
Yet, with all that, we (well some of us) are still doing just as much maintenance and adding as much complication as possible...it's just the nature of the beast, that people on these forums will want to go to the nth degree, nit pick, argue, etc., otherwise we wouldn't be bothering.
Wow, that was too long a response.
