I've spent hundreds of hours reading and expanding my mind here. I need some advice and I will try to make it short and quick. 2010 Taurus SHO has some serious swirls and then long front to back scratches that look like they were made from a crappy brush or an auto car wash.

I have a PC7424XP. I used LC orange pad and XMT #3. It got the swirls out fine, but the long scratches remain. Since I am in a time crunch, I picked up a bottle of Meg's UC. I have never used it, so I read a ton of posts and watched videos on it.

Here's the question....is it ok to finish with the XMT polishes after the UC? I'm just going to be doing the hood, roof, and trunk lid with the UC (orange pad) Also, I found a bottle of XMT finishing glaze. I don't even remember ordering it, but I take it glaze goes on after polish but before wax?

I have a picture but I can't seem to be smart enough to upload it.

Yes, finishing with XMT after Ultimate Compound is fine. Normally you want to stay in line of a manufacturer's polishes as usually they are designed to work together, however, you can switch up as I do it often.

If you have any doubts, you can do an IPA wipedown between the polishes, however I find that is unnecessary.

You are correct on the glaze.

The only reason I picked up the Meg's UC is because I was roaming the local Wally World and saw they had it for $7. I buy all my stuff from AG, but I needed to get these scratches out ASAP. I've always been able to get all the imperfections out with XMT, so these scratches are new to me

To the left of the towel is XMT #3 with orange pad.....to the right of the towel is untouched. I know the lighting sucks, but it is what it is. Plus, I live in Seattle, the sun won't be back until July.

Great improvement! If you have them, I would do UC on the orange pad and #3 on a white or gray pad. It looks like on the left you still have very fine scratches and I *think* it might be from the over aggressive pad.

I usually use the XMT 360, but I found this bottle of XMT finishing Glaze in my cabinet. What do you all prefer after the #3 if it is ready?

A little update. I had a couple of free hours, so I hit up the hood with UC on an orange pad. It definately made an improvement. I would have done some more, but I had to go to work. I finished with XMT Finishing Glaze and it looks good. But, the random scratches I couldn't get out seem to look like cat claw marks. I'm wondering if this car was parked outside and was a cat bedroom?? Any advice for the cat claw marks? Is it time to think about wet sanding?

The XMT Carnauba Finishing Glaze is actually a wax. You can stop after this product and the surface will have a protective coating on it.

The name uses the word glaze but it leaves the surface protected so judge a product by what it doesn not the words on the label. I explain that in my how-to book and in this article...
