Afraid To Machine Polish

The tops of my front fenders are flat, but less than 3" wide. Can I polish with a 3" pad on my G100? Or should I play it safe and polish by hand? The entire car ( 2013 Challenger ) has minor scratches and buffer swirls from the body shop. I hit a deer this past winter. What do the experts here on the forum advise?

I'm by no means an expert, but for what it's worth, the common rule is to start with the least aggressive method and then work your way up if needed.

I don't think it will hurt to give the correction a try by hand and then decide if your results are suitable enough for you. If you aren't happy, give the G100 a try with the same rule of thumb.
 
I've had the car back from the shop a month now. It was BASF water base and baked at about 130 degrees in their downdraft paint booth. The body work and paint is good, it's just the washing and buffing was not the greatest. The shop told me to wait a month before polishing and waxing and I'm getting anxious to correct the scratches and swirls!
 
Your Chally fenders are probably close to my 300 SRT fenders. I have run a 5.5" pad over them just fine, paint is still there :) A three is should be fine as well, plus the GG 3" is just a random orbit and not a DA if I recall correctly. As for the time frame from being painted, I know there is a thread out here about it, my quick search did not find it.
 
Thanks to everyone for your help! I'll be sure to watch that video Mike, thank you! I've never tried a 3" pad on my G100 with a 3" backing plate. I was just afraid I would possibly burn through on the edges of the front fenders. I'm going to try M205 and a LC ccs 3" white pad first to see if it gets the job done ( least aggressive ). I've got a 5" backing plate and 5.5" LC ccs pads for the larger panel areas and mostly Megs products from the consumer line.

It would be the charger one, they intro'd black label on it.
