On a 93 red vette I am assuming it has a hard clear coat, using M205 on black pad to jewel do I need to follow with 85rd for further refinement or will the 205 finish up just fine?

I would follow-up with the 85rd for further refinement.

205 is a polish. I'd definately put an LSP over it. Even the product description tells us to do that. I used Colonite 845 with great success but whatever you want to use should be fine.

From product description page, "Apply Meguiars Mirror Glaze #205 Ultra Finishing Polish using a foam finishing pad on your polisher. Using a rotary buffer, work at a speed between 1000-1500 RPM. Using a dual action polisher, work at a speed of 4 or 5. Work in a 2 x 2 sq. ft. area and wipe off polish immediately after polishing using a Cobra Microfiber Towel. Inspect your work with Meguiars Mirror Glaze #34 Final Inspection. Always use a wax or paint sealant after polishing."

After reading this again i wonder if you aren't talking about an LSP. Are you just asking if the polish itself is enough shine? I think it should be but this is a personal taste issue.

Can I make it shinier with 85rd after 205 or its just overkill?

Are you having issues with hollowgrams after the m205 and your looking to further correct this or?....not sure I am getting this post, did you compound too?If no hollowgrams are on cars finish I would say overkill!

Looks great after 205 I want to make it look even better with 85rd.

use a tapeline or you may miss any subtle differences

Depending on the paint, 205 can leave marring. It leaves marring on black toyota paint, but looks great on my neighbors black GMC.

On my corvette with hard clear it finishes rather nicely. Thats using a DA and black pad.

Thanks, my car is an VW black i use Menzerna FG500 for cuting and 205 for finish

I'd say you only stand to gain by following with 85rd. Whether or not it's worth your time is best determined by doing a test spot (as a previous poster suggested).

I'm another vote for using Menzerna PO85 after M205. I have found that PO85 removes any micro marring that may be left from M205 and can increase the gloss level 10-20%.

M205 will get you incredible results, but finishing or jeweling with PO85RD will give you that extra 5% of shine.

Meguiar's M205 is a very nice polish. When used with a White foam pad it really brings out the shine to just about any finish. To step it up a notch try using it with a Gray foam pad.

Menzerna PO85RD is reportedly a bit finer than Meguiar's M205 and will remove sanding grit up to 3000. Varying the pad density is another way to adjust the cut too.

Comparing the two side by side is really the only way to judge if one steps up the gloss..
