I used the AG water softener for the first last nite. Worked quite well, and this is on a dark charcoal grey RAV4. Softened enough that I didn't have the spotting problem I usually have. The water didn't have the "greasy" feel of totally soft water, but then this is just a small ion exchange canister and my water is like liquid limestone. But hey, it accomplished what I needed it to do and it was only 95 bucks - well worth the price.
Here's a link for those with the same prob: Clean Water Filter Kit, clear inline hose filter, car wash filter kit. I do recommend it. If it softens my water enough to not spot, I can't imagine it wouldn't work for others.
