Placed two orders with agn, both had packing peanuts. They can't be recycled anywhere near me, so into the trash they went to never decompose (can take 1000s of years). Placed an order through autotopia, paper packaging that can be recycled. Nicely done autotopia. Agn, please make the switch!

You can add to use packing paper in the comments field and that resolves the issue.

Thousands of years?

I have actually tested this theory of plastic breakdown. Yes, thick plastics such as 55 gallon drums would most likely be around for centuries in some form. But at my old job, we had a spot outside on top of an old steel container where we put thin plastic packaging, quart containers, and yes, packing peanuts outside in the elements just to see.

The packing peanuts (styrofoam) are resiliant, yes. But after a whole season of sun/rain they began to break down. Thin plastic containers lasted between 2-3 years before they turned into a brittle, cracking state.

So while I agree with you about using environmentally safe packaging, I'm just not sure it would be Thousands of years.

All that aside, none of it is good...........

Or use the ones that dissolve with water

Those stink, if their is the slightest leak in the pkg they beging to dissolve and stick to everything in the package.

AG should use the paper excusively, the issue is they need their vendor to show them how to properly use it. They jam way too much paper in the box so their internal shipping costs went through the roof. I sold those paper systems that they use for over 10 years. It's called Ranpak. They don't need the folded woven systems, just the plain paper. I can tell you, their vendor loves them LOL. All the way to the bank.

Very good to know! I will definitely do this with future orders.

It seems like there are a few others out there who will benefit from this as well :)

I HATE the peanuts. I knew about the requesting paper trick, but only remember to do it about 50% of the time. I got a box this week from the sister site and started swearing to myself the minute I opened the box.

It would be nice if they ditched the peanuts for good and went exclusively with the paper. It's so much easier to simply toss that in the recycling bin with the box, not to mention not having the peanuts fly all over the room when you try to get products out of the box.

You and my wife would get along well. She has an absolute hatred for the things. They somehow manage to end up everywhere, no matter how much cleaning is involved!

I have never gotten packing peanuts since I started the "No Peanuts" request in the comments section.

They should use actual peanuts, this way you would have a large snack while unpacking your supplies ;)

Many companies now are using air filled plastic which is kinda fun. Again, more plastic to throw away, but at least its minimal. And those plastic bubbles are fun to pop, make a nice pop sound that scares my dog.

Air filled bags are recyclable anywhere that accepts plastic bag recycling (lots of stores, such as Target).

Sort of like Five Guys? Some of you may not understand the reference. They set out huge containers of peanuts for you to munch on while waiting for your food.

Hopefully none of it would spill on the peanuts. I'm not exactly enthused about finding out what polish tastes like. Yuck!

Carnauba wax is a natural product, derived from the palm trees in Brazil... Must taste really good ;)
