I've been doing research on all-in-one products. I've always read about them but never really use them . I just ordered some HD speed and have a couple questions. is there a need to wax after using HD speed? and is it a good product to use after doing compounding work or would a regular polish be better to use?

I've found Speed is a great finishing polish after compounding and adds a deeper, richer glow to the paint than just a polish. I do the whole car with Speed and wipe off after complete and get about 4-6 weeks of protection. However, topping with HD Poxy (a hybrid sealant/Montan wax) you'll see a much deeper, wetter look and get 4-6 months of protection depending on conditions.

I've also used HD express to wipe with after speed for a little extra shine and protection

Sure...using an AIO doesn't preclude
using a compound/polish before, and/or
an LSP afterwards: a 2-3 steps process.

However to me...
An AIO literally means a one-step product:
nothing else before; nothing else after...
a 1-&-done process.

Well I guess I'm excited to try out HD. And looks like I'm gonna try out the poxy afterwards as well!

I think you will like working with Speed. I am another who tops it with Poxy afterwards. Most AIOs have some protection without topping but the consensus here seems to be topping it is the best way to get max protection & longevity. After the Speed,Poxy goes on & off so easy it a no brainer.

Don't discount the dissensus, of that
hypothesis, that also exists here.

I don't understand the interest in AIOs - when people top them. Why not just use a polish followed by an LSP?

It takes exactly the same time, and dedicated products usually yield better results.

Agreed, if you gona two step might as well do it the proper way which is always more rewarding in the results.

Don't all AIO's have protection, thus the "all in one" nomenclature? If not, wouldn't it just be a polish?

I always top AIO's with something. Most of the time i used Blackfire AIO and top with Crystal Seal, one of the most shiny combos out there!

Yeah I understand that. Obviously in some cases a car will need some kind of compounding or correction work , but I also run into cars that don't really need compounding but I like to do a nice polish and wax. so I was thinking of using the all-in-one HD and topping it with the poxy or whatever your choice May be instead of using a Polish and wax. Does that make sense? like I said before I've been buffing for almost half my life and I've never tried any AIO products that I see a lot of people using and having awesome results so I wanted to see what I can do with it

The only reason HD Speed might be used instead of HD Polish is that it seems to add a much wetter, deeper shine under POXY than just a coat of POXY.

The only AIO I know of the advertises that their AIO protection will last for "months" is McKees 360. If that proves to be so then there would be no need to top it with another LSP. Initial reports seem to be positive, but no one has done a durability test comparing it with other AIOs. LINK: McKee's 37 360 Corrects, Cleans, Seals 360 corrects, cleans, and seals auto paint! 360 is more than a cleaner wax, its a swirl remover, polish, and
