I have not used an Air Freshener is almost 2 decades. Last one I used was probably a Yankee Candle Hang Tag...

Just for the helluva it, bought me a Febreze one that clips on and the aromatics is a liquid. I had the dial cranked to it's lowest setting + the vent clip that it on (which is normally WFO- Wide F## Open), I literally turned it to downone bar.....to minimize the air coming blowing off the air freshener

Maybe it's one of those things I'm just not used to but I find it too much as is.
Just decided to *try* an air freshener just to keep up with the Jonses.....and see what I was missing out
We don't smoke or eat in the car.....it's neutral odor.

Does anyone *not* run a air freshener as they find it too much.
I might put the freshener clip on the rear sear back vents but that kinda defeats the purpose right....as the aromatics is then from the 2nd row onward

The Griot's ones are pretty mild. I was going to try the vent clip along with the spray air fresheners in the same scent. In the winter, I've found that it really doesn't get any airflow since the car is directing air to the lower vents, not the upper ones.

Not that i think i would find the aroma offensive but i dont see the need.
If one is doing something that is producing an offensive oder ( smoking is the worst ) then stop doing that.
If i would choose any i think it would be “new car smell”.

I use an Adam's charcol odor bag in the spring to fall, take it out in winter. I bought a lightly used car a year and a half ago. Geat car, but po was a big smoker. I washed the interior down, used an odor bomb, and then even used an ozone machine. The Adam's bag is just to keep it neutral now. It all worked (works) cause there is zero smell in the car.

This is a 50/50 situation for me.

My 17 and 11-year old Falcon's still smell like brand new inside, likewise my 1-year old Mustang. I don't use an interior scent on these cars for that reason, I also won't use scented interior cleaners, leather products and glass cleaners. Shallow, but I want to keep that new-car smell that I paid handsomely to have.

On other cars, I like the fun behind interior scents. The reality is, while some are better than others, none of them last very long. In that I'm talking about the sprayable type, not the swing-tag things you buy at an auto store of gas station, those I find overpowering and borderline unpleasant. So I guess the limited longevity of the sprayable type is a blessing in disguise.

The Good - I've really liked the Angelwax due, Eden and Bliss. These seem to last longer than others I've tried. I've also liked the Koch Chemie ones.

The Bad - The Griot's Leather Scent sucks, as do the OG scents. But the most disappointing has been from P&S. These are sold in concentrate form and mimic some of their signature product fragrances. I've always loved the Bead Maker and Absolute scents, so I was super keen to try them. But no matter what dilution you use, or even raw/undiluted, you get no more than 10 - 15-minutes out of them. I also tried applying the undiluted product onto a sponge and put it under the seat, no dice. Probably one of the most disappointing detailing products I have bought over the years.

I've used them in the past, but I don't bother with it at the moment. The Qashqai sits in the garage with the front windows down, so no bad odours build up in it, and it smells like whatever interior detailer I most recently used for a few days after anyway. I'm sure the FJ just smells like me, and no one has complained yet, I think the PO was a smoker, so I had to do some work on it when I got it, changed the AC filter and cleaned the headliner with Fabracadabra.

On a side note, I've only ever owned 1 car with leather seats, my last car, they should come with a warning about farting on leather seats, the non ventilated ones I mean. I'm not interested in leather seats anymore.

I'm in the "No" camp as well.

My cars typically don't smell, so we don't have a need. Occasionally there may be a odor in the car from hauling a load of take-out food, or a little mustiness from the HVAC vents, but letting the car sit overnight in the garage with the windows down usually clears everything up.

There was a time when I thought putting an air-freshener in my car was a good idea. I tried a lot and the only one I could tolerate was a seasonal scent from Yankee Candle in their little plastic jar-like things. In the end I found the best scent for my car was no scent at all.

Whatda ## Big D. It's not like the gas is going to permeate into a fabric seat and diffuse the smell, unless that is your theory.
LOL

On the ventilated ones, some suck and some blow🫣

I don't mind a mild scent, but some are just too strong.

I tried one of those Febreeze clips in my Edge. I also had it on it's lowest setting to minimize how strong it is.
It's been empty for at least 2 months, but it still has the scent. What I notice is that since it's cold out, I run the heat and that seems to 'activate' the scent more.
I moved it down to my foot vent so it doesn't blast my face, but when the heat is blasting, it's still pretty strong.

I’ll run a new car scent tree dangler from time to time in my daily driver. Reminds me of when I turned 16, that was my go to. I also like True North. Currently have a Yankee candle car jar in cinnamon. Hey, it was heavily discounted.

In my camaro, no scent. Has a hint of new car smell.

Color me no, also. If I get a musty odor from the A/C I spray some evap cleaner in there and usually change the filter. Other than that, it's just natural or the smell of whatever interior product I've used recently.

Cloth seats allow the seat base foam to act like a filter, diffusing and delaying the odour, unventilated leather just block it so the odour is both quicker and stronger. I can't comment on ventilated leather seats, I haven't conducted that experiment yet. Anyone trying to tell me they don't fart in their car, well I would suggest you check your pants, they may be on fire.

Checked my cabinet, I still have these air fresheners, or scents as some are marked. Barely used, although I did spray some Blue Velvet into the FJ, from memory it'll last maybe a day or two.

Well, BigD, you certainly don't want the ventilated seats that blow air, as for sure it may offend passengers or not if they happen to be in the vehicle.
On the ones that suck air, not that I have thought about the *air quality* that is is sucking..... 😁.......and or the air path of said air on the ventilated ones that suck air. I can say this thread has gone full circle

How does it compare to shower farts? :ROFLMAO:

I have ventilated leather seats so I carefully direct my farts into one of the perforations.

I'm not a fan of the chemicals. What I like to do is swipe a single tea bag of herbal tea from work, flavor depends on my mood and wedge it into a floor vent. Earl Gray actually works really well. Makes for a nice subtle smell that won't kill you.

I saw a video where someone wedged a harmonica in the floor vent under the drivers seat of this guys car. It was only barely audible, but so annoying.
