Like most on here... just curious and looking for the next best thing... but in your opinion whats your favorite/go to Chrome Polish?!?

Feed back please

I use Mothers on three of my vehicles; all have chrome wheels. The polish comes off real easy and the wheels look great.

American Racing Chrome Tech Cleaner works like a champ. Easy on easy off.

I'm a huge fan of Optimum Metal Polish. It's very easy to use, cuts extremely well and finishes beautifully. For the price it's tough to beat.

Just to be sure...

Chrome? or Aluminum?

Just about any premium brand "metal" polish will work on chrome because all the product needs to do is remove any bonded road film or gunk or remove any topical rust. The chrome it coating itself is very hard and shiny to start with.

Chrome is a very thin coating. When it looks "bad" it's normally because there is some time of "substance" bonded to it staining and dulling it.

Or it's been neglected and dirt has been allowed to build-up, then attract moisture and then cause rust. In extremely neglected cases, the moisture can cause enough corrosion to cause the chrome layer to start lifting off the underlying layer of nickel.

Most fine or finishing aluminum polishes will work fine on chrome.

When I buff out a classic car with chrome bumpers or chrome trim I'll usually run the same pad and compound or polish over the chrome and it too work just fine. Safe enough for paint it certainly isn't going to harm chrome.

i have cleaned old chrome bumpers and old taps with this and it gives great results, just needs elbow grease. but this should be kept away from paint, it wasnt exactly targeted for use on cars. soldiers use this in our area to shine their medals

RE: The Turtle's Chrome Polish & Rust Remover

Lest I forget:

Collinite #850...
-Contains very mild silica/alumina abrasives from calcined-D.E.
-Has some Morpholine...as a rust preventative/heat resistance

AS ALWAYS:
Use caution when attempting to polish a few millionths-inch-'thick' chromium-plating.

Some blemishes/scratches may be too 'deep'...
Perhaps already compromising the bright nickel and/or copper platings.
"Clean&Seal" often is the best bet in those circumstances...IMO.

:)

Collinite Metal wax is amazing stuff! Use it with 0000 steel wool if you need some bite, otherwise it does well with just an old mf.

i actually make my own aluminum and chrome polish. it consists of :

green jewelers rouge bar

white jewelers rouge bar

mineral spirits

lemon juice

works killer if done the right way.

I've used mothers and it is easy on easy off but feel it doesn't quite pull all the sparkle and shine out of the Chrome

Optimum metal polish.

I've wondered about Optimum... judging by the pictures below its the real deal!

American Racing Chrome Tech Cleaner works like a champ. Easy on easy off.

Never heard of it but def. going to look into it! Is this made by American Racing Rims?

I tested a handful of metal polishes on my Injen CAI, the section below was done by hand with Optimum Metal Polish and an Orange CCS Eurofoam Pad. The thin liquid is deceiving, I found that using less product gave me better results.

Yeah pictures have me sold on trying Optimum! Nice Work Ray! :xyxthumbs:

Thanks for the insight Mike! I like the idea of "running the same pad and compound or polish over the chrome and it too work just fine. Safe enough for paint it certainly isn't going to harm chrome."

Definately has me thinking!

This works for me.

Collinite must be good stuff! Lots of people highly recommend their products... Gonna have to add some of their stuff to my list of things to try! I really like that they have Morpholine in the formula! Thanks!

Thats awesome! Next time you mix some up you should post/create a video! Definately interest me and I'm sure lots of others!

Autosol works great on chrome.

Never heard of it but will check it out! thanks for the feedback!

Pro Polish 2 is the nicest product I've tried on chrome from AG's offerings.

Is this by Poor Boys? Hows the application and removal of it? Definately going to look into it!

Yes it's the Poorboy's PP2. It's nice on chrome and is a swirl killer on paint too. With it's chemical makeup and added non diminishing abrasives it quickly brightens up chrome and wipes off very very easy.
