I was looking around AGO and found one of my first posts (actually it was my second Show N' Shine) and it kind of cracked me up. Look at the products I used and even my write up.......boy things have changed.

Would you all rather me go back to this style?

Meguiars all the way ;) Old one, but the car looked fantastic after some love from you ;)

And....it still is a great job Justin!

I look back at some of my early details that I did prior to working in the BMW dealer and think the same thing. But...it was what I did at the time and the limited knowledge I had.

Oh boy...have we gained some knowledge since then LOL!

Have a great day Sir! I have a car hauler full of BMW's enroute to the shop and will be starting this weekend on the reconditioning.

Couldn't agree with you more Toto!
You sound like you're gonna be busy. Can't wait to see the results. Are you going to try out the Menzerna line?

Justin have you re-done this vehicle with any of the newer products? I know that NXT couldn't have held up this long :)

Still looks good IMO

The only difference I see is the products you used. The rest, is excellent!

Justin: I've got a bottle of the Menzerna 106FF to try out. Right now, I'm pretty much sticking to a "reconditioning" process. It seems to be the most consistent for producing results the dealer wants.

1. Clean 'n Clay
2. Inspect and mark areas for wet sand (I use a strip of blue tape to remember the area)
3. Paint guage (usually, the dealer does this at the auctions and lets me know if there was a re-paint done or a thin area from a previous cutting)
4. Wool pad + compound (Optimum or 3M Extra Cut if needed)
5. (new step) Power wash compound dust before polishing. I've found that merely wiping off dust was creating scratches and probably contaminating the polish process.
6. Polish (might slip in the Menzerna on this process...depending on color of car).
7. Glaze
8. 3M Ultrafina SE with their pad
9. Meguiar's #26 LSP
10. Interior cleaning

I'll have a list of cars this afternoon and the transport should be here by Saturday.

To be honest with you Justin, that just shows that it's not all about the products but about the man/woman doing the work.

You could have said you did that detail with all OTC products or with the full line of Menzerna products and it would have turned out just as great!
