I'm not getting much of a reponse on the challenger forum. So I'll ask the challenger owners here. I just discovered that the challenger has been known for rust issues. Theres foam inside the quarter panels that might be the culprit. Some suggested removing this. Anyone attempt this

That's probably sound deadening material.
I'd leave it in there.

Best solution, IMO, is to get
the vehicle "rust-proofed".

However:
-Due to the EPA putting so many VOC
restrictions on that process here in the USA...
-The last of the really good rust-proofers
are now up in Canada. They're called Krown.
-Just across the border...Make for a nice road trip.

•Or perhaps consider getting it done at one of
the Pennsylvania Ziebart/Tidy Car facilities...

Your right bob. It's for sound deadening . I'm reading that it can be blocking drain holes

Look at any previous generation ram. They'll either have rusted out quarter panels, or they've been replaced. This is one of the many reasons I got rid of mine and bought a ford. The sound dampening foam they put in the quarter panels holds moisture and they welded the seam where the inner and outer panel meet.

Lots of owners would take out the rear brake light, and rig a sprayer wand to reach into the panel and spray a rust inhibitor like POR-15.

I have heard of this before as well. Seems like a "normal" problem with them.

This is very common. Dodge stopped using that in the 15' and up model years. Mine is a 12' and I cringe every time I wax that area.

Here's a good look at it

Someone on the forum mentioned that it was still in the 15 models. I hope your right, sure would be a relief
