Hi all,

My name is William, and I'm a bit "new" to this level of detailing. I've always washed, waxed, detailed, and dressed my cars so they look as good as possible, but paint correction, and all these brands (much better than store bought stuff, I'm sure) I've never heard of/done before! (But I'd love to try/learn.)

I own three vehicles currently, a 1994 Lincoln Town Car, a 1993 GMC Sierra, and my dream car, a 1977 Lincoln Continental. I've been a member of a few detailing forums (detailingbliss.com, for one) but after reading up here for a bit, I seem to prefer this one better.

I would call myself a "experienced weekender" or at least an experienced guy who does his best each week to make sure his cars look as good on Sunday, as they did the previous Monday. I don't have all the professional tools, products, or the skill to operate them correctly (for now) but, that's why I signed up in the first place!

Great to meet you all.

The Secret to Removing Oxidation and Restoring a Show Car Finish to Antique Single Stage Paints

Thanks everyone!

Mr. Phillips, eeeeeyow!! That Mark IV looks fantastic!!

Mr. Phillips, that article of yours is fantastic, the only problem I have, is in the process of clay-barring the paint about 6-7 months ago, I managed to wipe most of the dead paint off of the hood, trunk, and front fascia panel. So, there really isn't much paint to work with there. It's still worth a shot, but I suppose the whole car will need to be repainted due to old rock chips here and there never being filled in, and now have very minor rust in the area. Stuff you can only see from about 2 feet away, but, will get worse if I don't care for it.

If I was to get the whole car repainted, would you recommend a single stage again, or a base/clear job? Who knows, the $50 Rustoleum paint job may be in order. ;) (I've seen several examples of it, and they look stunning, even 5+ years later.)
