Alright guys, I been lurking on the forum for a while now researching and reading Mike's how to's on polishing, as well as reviews on which products I should start with. And then I got the dreaded "paralysis by analysis". Luckily the Memorial sale came up and that "forced" me to make a purchase! I guess I'm looking for confirmation that the purchases I made were good ones for the beginning polisher/detailer!! A little background on my vehicles. My wife has a 2009 jet black BMW 328i. It has mild swirls, as well as bird drop etching. I've read about the "soft" and "hard" clear coats on these cars. So that has added to my confusion. Anyway my truck is a white 2006 crew cab silverado. I've had it since new and the paint is in fantastic shape (recent correction by pro as well). Heres my list of polisher related purchases:

PC 7424xp
5.5"Lake Country Flat Pads (3 Oarnge, 3 White and 2 Blue)
Lake Country 5" backing plate
Wolfgang TSR 3.0
Wolfgang Finish Glaze
Mezerna Power Lock Sealant..

as well as some other detailing items to add to my current collection. Honestly I was looking at the Megs MF DA kit but I got confused about the "production detailing" stuff and if it was too abrasive etc. (Also my detailer used Power Lock on my truck and i really like it) Sorry for the long winded post, but my cars are important and i don't wanna bite off more than I can chew!
Thanks, Chris

Congratulations on your purchases. Not only are they good to learn with, they will serve you well should the detailing bug bite you full force. Only thing I might add at some point is black pads for finish polishing. They MF pads are excellent if you find you do not have enough cut with the orange pads. Good luck.

Your order is almost identical to my first purcahse. I second the need for some black pads and the microfiber pads. You will be very happy with the PCXP. It is almost impossible to screw up and the Wolfgang twins work great on the harder German clears. I have a brilliant black Audi and the twins took out almost everything.

At first, I was against sealants because I like the look of wax, but I am a convert! The Menz powerlock is awesome!

Make sure you have plenty of microfiber towels at hand as well. Welcome to the addiction

if you can, pick up some of the 4" pads and a 3.5" backing plate. I just did my first correction on my car on Friday and the smaller pads were perfect for getting the pillars, bumper, and the tight places on the trunk.

post some pics when she's all done.

The meguiars mf system is a bit more abrasive than Ultimate compound. I would buy it if some of the swirls on your wifes bmw if they are very drastic

If no one's welcomed you then :welcome: To Autogeek Online Chris!!

I think you're starting off putting your best foot forward. Your choice of products and equipment are spot on and the only thing I'd add it a few gray pads...

Here's some great information by Mike Phillips that will help you if you need it.

Take your time and do not panic, it takes time to develop your personal skills so don't rush....

Added 2 gray pads tonight... but can i do without the 4" pads and backing plate for now or are they a must have???

You can get by without them but make sure you tape off good. Don't worry about getting everything in your first order, once you see what you can accomplish you will be placing more orders, trust me!
Your order looks spot on, everything there will serve you very well. The Wolfgang polishes are still my goto favorites!:buffing:

And :welcome:
