Another wax top coat question ?

I'm rather new here and have been doing a ton of reading for about two months. I have a new used 4Runner and can't wait to detail the paint as soon as the weather in NJ allows me too.

I'm planning on purchasing the Porter Cable DA 7424XP next month and then getting busy with a good wash, clay bar, Wolfgang Swirl Remover, Wolfgang Finishing Glaze and then a good top coat of carnauba wax.

My question is about the final wax top coat. The Wolfgang Fusion paste wax is a little pricey for my budget $ 59.99 and I don't see people raving about it. So I was looking around at the other carnauba wax choices and was considering the Mothers Pure Carnauba wax liquid or paste or Meguairs carnauba wax. Is the Mothers pure carnauba wax a good choice?

The wax I see most people bragging about is the Collinite # 845. Is this the best mid price wax option?

Collinite is what I use now a lot. I prefer the 476, but 845 is great and is the easiest to use.
It is actually a hybrid product. It is both a synthetic sealant and a carnuba wax combined together.

Hi Rich, You can't go wrong with the 7424XP. Great machine to start out with. One thing you want to do is discard the plate/pad that come with the machine. They are useless.

Not sure if you are going to go with just the machine and piece together a plate/pad kit but IMO I would go with the thin 5.5"x7/8" Lake Country Hydrotech pads. These pads are a perfect match for the machine and polishes you plan on using.

You can get these products all together in a pre made kit. Bundled in the kit is Wolfgang Pad cleaner and a pad conditioner. Also pick up a few more pads to go with the kit. You will need more than just 2 pads of each color to compound/polish the vehicle. You can find a three pack at the bottom of the screen. Check out with 2x.

Fuzion is an incredible paste wax. This is a hybrid of sealant/natural wax properties. I only use this over a true sealant such as Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant or the like. Another option worth looking into is Wolfgang Deep Gloss Liquid Seal. It's even easier to use/apply than the already easy Deep Gloss Paint Sealant.

My experience with Collinite 845 is that is last pretty long compared to other wax and it produces much better beading than other wax! Maybe you can take a look at Menzerna Powerlock! It gives a really slick finish just like a wax and is really easy to apply!

Check out Griots Garage 6 " DA. Also what pads are you gonna be using and give opti-seal a look also
