Wasn't sure what forum to post this in so I'm starting here. I have a '78 Triumph that hasn't seen the rode in almost 30 years. It's original single stage white paint. It appears sometime over past couple years while it was being worked the rad cap or hose gave way and shot drops of all water and anti-freeze all the way to the back of the car which didn't get cleaned properly. It has what looks like faded brown dots all over the place. What is my best option for getting these out? I have a usable buffer that I normally use for just waxing my other car. Can someone suggest a few ways to get this cleaned up? I know 40 yo paint is never going to be perfect, but I would like to keep it for awhile longer since this care only has 24k miles on it still.

A lot of maybes here?

The model or type of polisher you have would help if real world results are possible on single stage paint.
I would imagine the antifreeze has left a deposit resembling water spot etching which a newer polisher would be able to contend with.
Mike might even say Meguiars #7 for the single stage paint.

Off the top of my little noggin CarPro Iron-X might be the product to use before a clay bar on the brown dots.
Those Triumphs are neat little cars.

Do the Meguires # 7 rub down.

Rub it on with terry cloth--leave it overnight.
Take off.

Do another # 7 rub...
Remove and repeat.

Prolly be able to do about 5 applications before laying down a wax.

The Triumphs are those deals where a polisher doesn't work!

Do all by hand...

Skip iron-X and clay bar...

Do either a rinseless or waterless wash.

Then go stright to megs #7.

Can use a polisher----just to lay down wax.

Other than that, do all by hand.
