Just curious if any one has gotten permission to do work in a company parking lot and maybe could shed some light on things to be concerned about and addressed. Thanks AGians!

You are correct I do a lot of planes so for me to step foot on the grounds I have a 2 million dollar policy very expensive but I match my prices to pay for that ,in parking garages you may get approval with a insurance for a high limit of liability which maybe hard to make back on washing cars, but it's a good postive info for someone starting out.Take the time to find the right people and parking garages can be a goldmine...It takes awhile but you will have exclusives to all the cars.
With my previous business I had a 2 million coverage policy as well. 1 mil for property and 1 mil for personal liability. It broke down into more specific coverages but you get the point. This policy was the reason I won most bids for my county, school & resort business. Large corporations are going to require an insurance policy and probably want to be listed as additionally insured. Not a big deal to do but you will need it going into negotiations.
I do Rinseless Washes at the local Post Office for the employees and they do not have a problem with it
I would get rolling first, then as the business grows you will make the commitment to carry insurance and worker comp etc.If you decide beforehand you will not be profitable making all those payments right out the gate.fly under the radar with caution then make the transition of insurance workers comp etc.Awesome! This is brings a good point to consider when I apply for insurance. May I ask how much the premium for a policy with that sort of coverage cost? I'm getting a quote for general liability, garage keepers, workers comp and auto. Are there any other coverages I may be over looking?
That's the way to do it! Who was the person you contacted within the Post Office to allow you to work there? Was it just the manager?
Usually in a mall they want a nice cut , like 20 percent .On this topic of parking lots
A local company has been set up in our mall for years. This week they are packing up and moving into a warehouse. I think a mall parking lot could be a great location IF the lease was reasonable.

Texting over the Internet sometimes people read it in a different way or they think I'm negative by any means I'm not .ive been doing this my whole life ,spent all my younger years in this industry and sacrificed a lot from mistakes to success and made a lot of money.Ive gone thru 200 k just in detail rigs, made costly mistakes from time to time and we learn from it.so if I see someone on the forum asking for advice I tell the truth from my past experience .so either they take it or not is there own choice.sometime I see advice given which is totally wrong from a guy who has only been doing this for 9 months.so again I may seem negative on the forum, but truly I'm not.I am just a straight shooter guy with a lot of experience and don't mean to offend anyone. There has been some promblems on this forum that may have gotten out of control by me,and now I know with so many opinions on here i learn from others and I don't get heated anymore. This forum is full of speculation and facts sometimes.its just that people read my post and take it the wrong way sometimes happy new year.I normally do not agree with your advice that you post because you seem to hardened by life experiences. I do like the fact that you seem very willing to try and help even if the advice you give sounds negative from time to time. That being said,I agree 100% with you this time as this is what I would advise also. I think when I advise a new lawn care entrepreneur I must sound like you also because I have done lawn work for 42 years and have been trough a lot of hardening also in my work.:dblthumb2: Keep rocking the advice it is great to read all types of opinions yours are included.
I did some number crunching. Not trying to be a jerk, just a numbers guy!Great info guys! The direction for my business is focused on volume while hiring 2-6 employees who will be performing waterless washes. I plan to station myself all day at locations which cuts down on down time due to travelling. My focus is to give people what they could find at a car wash with a few simple add ons such as clay bar, wax, carpet extraction and window chip repairs. I love detailing cars, but I believe my business is one that appeals to the masses and not the few that care meticulously about their vehicles. My goal as a business is to establish 20 accounts (businesses with 100-500 employees) whom I could recycle once a month and be able to wash 30-50 cars per day @$30-45 a piece. With a target monthly revenue goal set at $40,000 by month 12.
I believe the insurance will be a necessary playing card from the get go. If I cannot pay $200-400 a month for insurance in the first few months, I probably wouldn't be in the best position to start a business
My goal is to launch Feb. 1st, while spending my January mostly canvassing local business, and sharing with them a solution to the huge water crisis we have here in Cali. While also saving them an hour trip down to the local car wash.
I like the mall idea and will need to look into the local malls to see if they would be willing to add any value to their shopper's experience. I have a few contacts at the local PD and will be visiting local country clubs for Saturday morning gigs that could easily generate 10-20 washes.
Thank you guys for the great info, I've definitely picked up several nuggets that I will take and implement as things get started! Any more chime ins would be awesome! Love the input!
