Any way to help cracked leather?

So my eclipse has leather seats and after 15 years they are showing their age. The lower bolsters are pretty cracked but not totally wasted. Is a conditioner worth my time? I know modern seats have the protective layer but would the cracks change that at all?

Nope...nothing will repair the cracks in any way other than a re-upholstery shop...BUT starting a good conditioner regimen will slow down and may stop further cracking by making the leather more supple / less brittle. I'd start with a thorough cleaning with a good leather cleaner, I use Griot?s Scent Restoring Leather Cleaner then follow up with Griot's Garage Leather Rejuvenator This combo has served me well and are solid performers.

I agree. I've been using megs d180 occasionally to keep up with it. The seats never really need deep cleaning but I'll make sure to give Griots a try. Thanks.

I saw this video on YT of a guy doing a full seat repair without re upholstering. May be worth a shot YouTube

Not all cracked leather requires a visit to the upholstery shop. Some damaged leather can be sanded, filled, stained and sealed to look like new. I agree with Mike that Griot's Leather Rejuvenator can do amazing things but it has it's limits.

I tried the YouTube trick Sunday with much skepticism. It did work with many passes. Took some time.
It was a huge improvement and my friend and I were amazed at the results. The cracks will always be there but you have to look a lot closer.
If you try this use a little more paint than the video showed. If the color gets too dark add a little thinner and gently wipe. The seats I did were saddle.
I don’t have any pics the car is back in Atlanta.
Good luck if you try this I was very nervous that this wasn’t going to end well!

What kind of car was it?

It was a Lexus that I posted about Sunday.
My only concern is how long will this last?
In this case it really doesn’t matter because she is trading very soon.
