I am working on polishing up a real old brass Tiffany lamp that has been in our family for nearly 100 years. I'm about halfway through the job and think I want to protect the finish and keep it protected because this is probably going to take another 20 hours or so to finish and I sure would like to just keep it nice instead of going through this again.

Not sure if wax or sealant would adversely effect the brass or not. I really wouldn't think so. Anybody know for sure?

Here's a few pics so far. I am using Meg's 105 to polish it up with.

I would use UPGP. I havent used Opti Seal but think it would work too. Aquawax dries clear and may work too. I am sure UPGP will do no harm.

Thanks OldTiger, I have DGAW I'll give that a shot first.

I use Collinite Metal wax on anything metal, without paint.

I've used it to seal my exhaust pipes and muffler, after polishing them to a near mirror shine from a dull brownish shade!!(2 months ago)

and it still repels water and dirt!

On non painted metal surfaces like exhaust tips etc etc I apply DP wheel glaze to protect it.

X3 on the Collinite Metal Wax! I have a brass beer tap at the resturant that I work at. I use Brasso to polish, then top it off with the metal wax!! It last about 3 months compared to 5 days without! You will find many great uses for metal wax on cars also!!
