I've noticed more and more of these little white marks on my finish. Pretty much mainly on the hood and roof. I've had a few on the hood in small groups. Now I'm noticing a bunch of little individual white marks in the paint on the roof. They won't come out. What the hell is going on. The car is 2 years old. I want to take it back to the stearlership where I bought it, but its an 1 1/2hrs away and I just have this feeling that they are going to try and blow me off and tell me there is nothing they can do. I know you see everything on black, but these marks should not be here.
They are not scratches. I know what those look like.
This is a picture I found online. Whats on my hood are smaller versions of what look like this and on my roof is a bunch of individual ones.

I had EXACTLY the same issue with my wife's Explorer. It seems like it's where the paint was cracking. I just got it repainted because it was really bugging me.

You can actually see it in the top right corner of this photo:

Mike...It looks like the beginning of clear coat failure.....I would bring it back and have it looked at....Nissan had a few issues on some models with the clear Crazing like yours is....do not take any excuses like it is nothing or it will buff out...it will not if yours looks like that picture..it will just get worse in time.....most car makers have a 5 year warranty on the paint any ways....

Well I'm worried either they will say sorry your up the creek or you caused it (I know I didn't) and we won't warranty it.

Mike..just remember...just say I just wash and wax it...no more details than that...never give them any ammo to decline your claim...I see no reason that they will give you a hard time...call them first and explain the situation....if they give you a hard time tell them you want a meeting with the area rep...but I see now problem if they are a reputable dealership.....

AL

Yes...he is the District rep for all the dealers...he works for Nissan...he evaluates some problems...there may be another name for him...but right now I am calling him the Distric Rep..but he does work for the car maker and not the dealership...

AL

Gotcha. This paint problem is just my luck.

Mike, I think you'll be OK. My buddy drove a '96 Dodge Ram 2500 and in 2002 he started having real issues with the paint. He went through the dealership and they repainted his entire truck for free.

Cant say I know what it is there Mike but it dosen't look good. I'm interested to see what the dealership will say, I hope all goes well...keep us posted.

Good luck

Having worked in an dealership before, just contact the service manager first, than the general manager and than the owner in that order. You can discuss over the phone and than bring it in. Remember they want to repaint you vehicle as it is under warranty and the factory will reimburse the dealer for warranty work.....

If that fails, contact Nissan Consumer affairs at 800-647-7261 and explain the situation. They will more than likely put you in contact with the area rep at that time if you haven't worked it out by than. Go to the dealership where you purchased the vehicle first.

Good luck!!!

Thanks. Do you have any how long I would be without the car if they did go ahead and repaint it?
