I'm going to be taking a week long vacation in Nags Head, NC on the Outer Banks Oct 27-Nov 3rd.

Anyone from the area want to meet up or can suggest anything to do (bars, restaurants, events, etc)?

As of right now we will be taking my detailing rig down (the HHR SS), which is not exactly the most comfortable right for a long trip like that. My gf is actually trying to buy a new car, which I think she is leaning towards a CR-V, so if she gets that before we go, we may take that.

Was there 3 weeks ago.

Wright Bros Aviation museum is 5 miles north on Hwy 12 in kitty hawk.

20 miles north on Hwy 12 is Corolla. The road literally ends there. If you have 4 wheel drive you can travel several miles on the beach up to Carova beach & see the wild horses or if no 4 wheel drive take one of the local tours.

30 miles South on Hwy 12 is the Cape Hatteras Light House. The tallest light house in the US. It is still a working light house but you can walk to the top & see for miles up & down the outerbanks. There is a museum where you can see how they moved it 1 mile inland several years ago.

Half way to Hatteras is Pea Island Natural Wildlife Refuge. Not much in the Museum there but walk across the street to the beach & you will see one of the most beautiful unspoiled pristine beaches on the east coast. Look 100 yards out & you will see the shipwreck of the Oriental a civil war steam ship.

From Nags Head south to Hatteras there are no, I mean zero, houses, hotels, condos, businesses, etc. There are several spots to pull over & get to the beach. The beaches are beautiful & unspoiled. You might even see a turtle nesting site, deer, or foxes.

Travel down to Frisco just south of Hatteras & take a horse back riding trip right on the beach. You can see the cape hatters light house when you get to beach.

If you like quaint old beach villages visit Duck or Ocracoke.

If you like seafood, Owens Restaurant is in downtown Nags Head. Also try Basnights Lone Cedar Cafe it is right on the sound as you come over the bridge into Nags Head.
