Anyone remember this sealant from the 80's - 90's "as seen in TV"?

it was advertised the typical way. Terribly oxidized hood, lighter fluid etc.

it was a thick, varnish like liquid that went on with a special applicator.
it reminded me of the stuff in the tube that you used to coat Polaroid pictures...

As with everything on TV, it looked nothing short of marvelously magical.
In reality, the applicator, and the thick viscosity of the stuff created "brush marks" that didn't level and permanently ruined the finish of your car.

Anyway, I used it once to gloss up (and make clear) a stereo lithography (pre 3D printing) part.
They come out looking like translucent, frosted, off white plastic.
With a coat of this stuff, they become glossy, transparent-clear and professional looking.

i need some, but can't remember what it was called.

Anyone remember the name?
Anyone know if it, or something like it is available?

TIA.

Welll the only Sealant I remember from that time period is Nu Finish... I don't know if that's the one you are thinking about though, ads were usually about it being able to sustain 52 car washes and still be able to bead water. This product is still available and if I did not stain trims I would very likelly use it because of it's great durability. Unfortunatelly it does stain trims and I don't have time to mask every trim just to apply a sealant ;)

Was it ProLong Paint Sealant?

Spishwax? Whatever it is probably no longer available because of VOC laws

Could it have been:
Simoniz Liquid Diamond?

As Billy Mays would set
the car hood on fire,
He would also state:
It resists mud and tar.
And that on a hot day:
An egg just rolls away!

I think you're talking about Nu Finish. This is one of the original commercials. May dad picked it up after this and used it on his car. It did bead a lot.

Auri.... Wow! Only $29.95 and they throw in a Chamwow! What ever happened to that formula? I believe the same demonstration (updated) was performed at the recent SEMA for a new miracle nano-ceramic-coating.

It was called touchless. I had a friend use it on his 86 olds that the typical gm paint of that era.

I wonder what it was - a cleaner wax? It must have some form of abrasive in it. Video shows decent sheeting.

Blue Coral Autofom. With Fomblin A. You can find some You Tube videos of the commercials they ran.
