They seem nice. I don't know how well they hold up to washing. Any of you use them?

I think everybody will give a resounding "nope" for use on paint. You'll see from reading, that any budget towel (with the exception of the Sam's club that some guys absolutely love) will be reserved for wells, tires, engine bay and so on.... In those applications, heck yeah, knock yourself out! They're cost effective enough to toss if or when they quit being effective. The ones I had from there a few years ago bunched up at the edges when washing though so I've since tossed em
... I think?

Uhh....just pick up some MF at costco's. $12 gets you 36. At least I think that's what I paid. Got them awhile ago on sale. You're welcome.

What happens if you use cheap microfiber? Will it ruin the car?

I think they are more prone to scratching the paint, less nap, threaded edges, tag sewed on vs. stuck on (like that little detail on the Cobra towels).

I use them, have a bunch, actually.

They are great for:

Drying/polishing wheels.
Wiping on protectant. (interior/exterior materials)
Buffing leather.
General Dusting
Buffing Glass.
Buffing chrome.

I would not recommend you use them on the body panels though.

I wouldn't use them to wipe my butt. I was playing around with some polishes on my toolbox and figured I would use an old el-cheapo MF towel I had laying around. It was horrible! Ended up using towels from Chemical Guy's.

I forgot how bad cheap towels are.

I know you said buffing glass, but could you use them to clean them? Will it hurt the glass? Whenever you guys talk about scratching paint, etc. I have an image of a damaged vehicle, maybe even someone getting sued!

Go to Costco and buy the Yellow MF cloth, its a 36pk for $12.00. Just make sure you wash them properly so it does not dry up. I know someone here will chime in and disagree but I have used mine alongside my Cobra and CG MF towels and they complement each other.

I'll second the Costco (Kirkland) towels. I use them for interior, wheels, door jambs, trim, license plate and for very light wiping on the panels. Can't beat the price, and they've been very durable.

How can you scratch glass with microfiber? You mean a "real" scratch as in you'd have to replace the windshield to get rid of it?

Make that a plus 3. I use them for everything. I've bought some expensive ones that were pure garbage, don't let a low price scare you. When in doubt try them on a blank CD.

I use them for interior clean up and tires. I got a pack of generic blue 70/30's that passed the CD test. I've used them to clean the clear plastic lenses on the instrument panel. I still wont use them on paint but they do a good job for everything else.

If you're looking for a towel, separate from what you use when getting out of the shower, go for it. Just keep it off painted bits. Save that for the more purpose built towels.

What will happen if I use them on the body, the painted bits?

Probably nothing will happen, my advice is to at least take off the tab and if you are being gentle with product removal your out come should be ok. Just my opinion.

IMO....All this talk about everyone has to have these expensive microfiber towels is getting close to paranoia is I see it.

I`ve been around from the 60`s with cars and shows. The cars today don`t look any better at the shows, than they did back then. In those days everyone just used terry's and old Tshirts. Now for the past number of years everyone needs $7 towels because the cheaper ones will scratch you car. Come On now the clear coats today are much harder, than the paints of old.

I`ve been detailing my cars and some for friends and family for decades and I have never scratched any paint from using a cheap cloth, the microfibers I have used were cheap $.50 a peace in some cases. The most expensive towel I have noow is a Megs at $2 ea. and I just purchased those a few months ago, and I`ll never spend more.

I agree, mine are from Costco and they do fine. Nobody even wondered if the op was just detailing his own or was a business. Regardless if one is carefull whether using inexpensive or expensive towels the out come should satisfy.
