Man, all these great detail events happening and they all seem to be on the East coat. Is there anything here in the heart of the country that happens that may be coming up shortly, that is until I can convience Max to open up another AG warehouse here in KC! ;) I don't mind driving a little to get to an event, but 20+ hour drives just aren't in the budget at the moment.

You could always eat BBQ. Swing by Ok Joes and send me some brisket.

LOL, yeah there is definatly plenty of BBQ here. Next time I take a trip I'll let you know and get you some!

I was just there in March. Wife, kids and I are slowly taking a BBQ tour of america. We have been to KC, Memphis and Texas. I have been to NC, but without the kids.

Back to your original topic, I know what you mean. I had asked that same thing a couple of months ago. It would be nice to have some Detail Fest like events that were closer to me. Griots warehouse is about an hour from me and I have gone to those. Would like to see AG do one. Mike's answer was "too much work"

The closest we get to any kind of detailing event around here is that The Complete Garage out in Lenexa, KS (suburban KC) will bring in the Griot's folks for a Saturday clinic once every year or two. The last one was in May. In our local Mercedes club we try to do one every year, depending upon the interest level of the members. To my knowledge, none of the local detail shops host anything as yet. I'm not even sure how many full-time detailers there are in the metro area.

Hey Kevin! Well I live in KCK, but work in OP just off of Quivera. I agree there are very few actual detailers in our city. I'll have to look up The Complete Garage and see if/when they plan on doing that again or with any other vendors. I'm even willing to travel to St. Louis if needed just to get more product info and see first hand how some of these products are used. As a green detailer, I just don't want to F'up my vehicle. (or eventually my friends as they have all heard what I am planning on doing and have sparked quite a bit of interest from them) Thanks for the info though, I appreciate it.

If you come to KC you need to try Arthur Bryant's BBQ! It's a hole in the wall and watch your step, it's soooo greasy once you step in the front door you'll slide to the counter. Many of the past presidents have stopped in along with numerous other celebrities.........they have good BBQ. Smokestack is another good one, more upscale and the prices show it. :hungry:

Jhawk, I live just south of the Plaza, if you ever hear of any detail fest's here in the local metro area let me know. I'd like to try to view some of the demonstrations and learn more about products and techniques. And I agree, I think we have a virgin market here...........contemplating it as a side job for some fun money. However after discovering this forum I've realized I am extremely green and have a lot to learn.

:xyxthumbs:

I did go to ABs, but, not the original. We went to the one by the speedway. Went to one of the Gate's, OK Joes and Jack's Stack Freighthouse (very nice upscale). Did 4 BBQ joints in 3 days.

We will be going back. I want to try the original Bryants and some others that we did not get to.

Superd - I'm in the same boat. Heck, I'm still waiting on my products to arrive from AG. Should be here tomorrow!! Bad part is I have to work for the next 6 days then my wife and I are going out of town till next Saturday. Do you realize I'll have to wait 9 - 10 days before I can use this stuff! :sigh: Maybe I'll cheat a little and do small sections of my truck at a time! LOL.

You know, if we could get enough of us together, maybe we could all meet up someday and share experiences and if there is an experienced member that can join us, maybe he/she can show us some tricks and techniques!?!! I'm availible anytime from June 26-July 5 as I'm on vacation then.
